AMDs New GPUs Discussion 022425

Not sure if this counts as early news or not. Leak could be faked. But if it's true, the new 9070 XT will be roughly the same advance, maybe a little more, than NVIDIA's 5070 ti. They apparently didn't compare it to the 7900 XT for some reason, but it's a 42 percent increase over the 7900, although about half of that is from getting significantly better at no way tracing.

I'm not being scientific with it, but looking at the numbers for the 7900 XT, it appears that it will come in right around the 5070 ti. Of course the price will have to come down from what they charged for the 7900 XT, but assuming that happens it looks like it will be, as usual, sort of be a wash and just come down to buyer's preference.

Slide seems legit but have to see on the 28th. Have to remember its the numbers from AMD so they will be cherry picked somehow even if the slide is real.

Theyre comparing it to the 7900GRE which is actually a hobbled RX 7900XT. One optimistic theory is that this is because it will be priced the same as that card at $550

This is one of a handful of games recently to suggest the same, with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Doom: The Dark Ages all requiring the same GPU.

What's up with this? Do these games really not run on AMD GPUs? Supposedly the new GPU will be good with ray tracing. Will that change this? I had no idea this was a thing.

Feels like Nvidia not playing nice.

Not sure, maybe its just and Nvidia sponsored game? The article mentions:

That being said, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain also doesn't mention an AMD GPU in its system requirements and works fine with one so we'll have to wait until launch to see how non-Nvidia cards handle the game.

Im pretty sure any Radeon from the 6700XT/7600XT and up is faster than a 2060 in RT as well as normal rendering, at least from what Ive seen. Cant think of a reason it wouldnt be fine.

AMD have also started naming their cards based on the Nvidia tier that they hope to compete against with the 9070(XT), maybe companies are just realizing that people only really speak Nvidia.
