I’m working on a naval strategy game set during the First World War, but with a twist: the action takes place in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
Playable nations:
- Italian Republic
- Japan
- German Empire
- French Republic
- Russian Empire
- British Empire
- United States
- Free-world map: 50 unique ports, each with special bonuses
- Pirate bases: Function as market hubs to buy second-hand equipment or hire officers
- Equipment and officers: The core focus of gameplay. Equipment quality and durability vary depending on the producing nation: Britain and Germany lead in quality and technology, the USA is strong but slightly behind, and other nations are less consistent—even if the player researches or builds the equipment themselves
- Strategic gameplay: Players manage fleets, officers, and equipment, exploring “what if” scenarios while staying grounded in historical context
I’d love to hear feedback from fellow strategy enthusiasts:
- What kind of alternate naval scenarios would you find interesting?
- Are there particular ship types, nations, or technologies that could make this alternate WW1 setting more engaging?
