What mouse do you use?

Maybe you should try a different model from them, it might last longer. The shape of mine is very similar to it.

I've got their MMO mouse, and it works very well and gives me more buttons than I need, so I'll probably switch to those.

The MMO mouse has a much better cable, so I may try that. I have another one of the sensei already, so we'll see how long that one lasts. Last time I bought 2. I wasn't expecting to have to bring out the second one that quickly, though.

But strangely it is apparently the left mouse button wearing out. Those switches are supposed to last a very long time. I've got that Rat (Mad Catz) I can use too, so it may be awhile before I actually need to buy another mouse. I have a feeling the Rat will outlast every other mouse I've had for the last 5 years. It's simply a higher quality than the Sensei.

Talk of cables made me look at how much battery I had. 20%, time for a charge. Its cable isn't that bad, only need to use once every two weeks. And quick charge means it doesn't take long to be back at 90%

My last Sensei lasted 8 years... they must have cheapened out on the material used on that switch as mine still worked at the end, I had to stop using the mouse for software reasons. Guess it could have been a dud.

Sensei is hardly their top line any more. in fact it appears they want people to buy something newer:

Possibly. Amazon says to contact the manufacturer, so I sent them an email this morning, but I haven't heard back yet.

I am using a Honeycomb M32 Wireless mouse. One striking advantage it has is the weight. It had lightweight which reduces the strain on the wrist, allowing me to game for a longer time. It also has a good battery.

At least its not labelled Logitech... just looks like one

video actually reveals that Logitech are really close to the quality of Chinese mice that sell for way less. Not this mouse, this one is bad, but others might be a worthy option

8k polling rate is an exercise in marketing... bigger number is better right?

You can't tell and often the mouse isn't at that speed anyway.

Mine is only set to 125 but I use a high efficiency mode on mouse to extend battery life, if I turn that off its 1k. According to both videos you really don't need any faster, they are just gimmicks.

Final video shows 125 is noticeable but anything over 1k is the same... its placebo if you feel its helping

1k is enough unless by time we get screens that refresh at 1000hz, you can see a tiny difference... then its up to you. One video I saw says they can tell the difference at 540 and if you have a top end PC, no reason to not use one... (so we still talking 1080p here)

It really depends what games you play, a lot of this is based on playing FPS like CSGO. If you play games like I do, this really isn't an issue.

DPI has more of an effect the slower you move your mouse. So it does effect me more

I normally run at 1200 but I raised it a little to 1500... baby steps. Mouse can do 18k which is too fast. I can add levels so I made 1500 as the next up from 1200 was 2000 and it was too far to jump.

I had a problem with the cheap MMO mouse I got, but I figured out the problem with the mouse drift in the SteelSeries, so I'm back to using that one. The problem was the mouse pad, which is weird since it was a SteelSeries mousepad.

I really think it was a combination of the the wrong surface (I got the QcK L Performance Speed), as you point out, and where I had it lying. See, I use the arm of my chair for my mouse. Originally I was using Razer mice, and they didn't need a mousepad. I could just use the fabric of the chair. After I switched from Razer, I needed a mousepad, but the arm of the chair isn't flat. So the original mousepad I got was this one:

It is thick and doesn't deform like a normal mouse pad does when you drape it over the arm. However, at some point I decided to try a normal mousepad and got the Steelseries one. And what is happening is that the mouse is so sensitive, that when the mousepad isn't level, my arm imperceptibly moves downhill (it's by far the most slippery mousepad I've ever used), and the mouse tracks that. To me it doesn't feel like my arm is moving at all, but it is, just barely, and that is making the mouse look like it has drift, After trying two more mice and having them do the same thing, I have finally put the thick mousepad (above picture) back on and it, and now there is no drift.

Oh, and my keyboard just started working again. About half the keys weren't working. I unplugged it and just left it sitting to the side for a few weeks while I used a generic keyboard. So then I was getting ready to send the keyboard back for the warranty, and I plugged it in so I could make a list of the keys that weren't working, but now everything is working again. I guess it's possible that being unplugged for so long reset it or something.

Speed is for fast shooting games where you need to flick mouse to hit targets
Control is way more sensative and probably would work for mmo or games where you need tighter.... erm, control

If you play all sorts I would have picked balance...

That isn't drift, its just gravity. It doesn't help that the Speed mice only come in the thinner material... and not other options such as thick and hard

Steelseries thick mouse pads are better but I use a book under mine so its got a flat surface underneath which removes any oddness from below. Given my mouse pad is on my bed and not an arm chair, I have more room to move. The angle also means its not constantly moving, even when I hold it.
