The final boss is easier than he is. She may be the easiest boss in the game. I just went there unprepared.
Just beat the game last night. I would say Heisenberg for me was easier than Miranda. However that could have a lot to do with my age, eyesight, reflexes, and the fact that I've never been good at situations that are dark, with low contrast. I beat her first try like I did Heisenberg, but I was caught off guard a lot by her fire attacks. Really though, if I'd just noticed the signs earlier of when she's about to go into that attack, and realized to begin with the easy way to deal with it is rush behind the tree trunks, I'd have gotten through it a lot easier. I have to say though as well, part of what was bothersome in that fight is the lack of smoothness with panning and turning, and I feel it may very well be due to poor mouse control optimization. It was evident in the Sturm fight as well, especially when he's in his rage running mode and you have to turn and look quickly a lot to see where he is. I know the game has a quick 180 turn option, but I don't like using that because it doesn't account for 3/4 angles, and therefore can actually be disorienting. About all it's good for is the few times you're running straight down a hallway toward a door, and a tough enemy like the Sturm comes busting through. I don't even use it in those situations though, as it feels like one of those times in a game where the camera forces you to look a certain direction. I like to have hands on control of my look and aim at all times. It also seems common that games with such a feature don't have great optimization for mouse look/aim. I spent mostly W870 TAC rounds on her, and 10 magnum rounds. I used 4 health vials, and crafted and used two more, and I was still near death when I landed the final shot.
The Chris Redfield segment went pretty well for me, and I'd have easily done it with no deaths had it not been for my stupidly hanging back where you start the laser targeting segment when the armored Lycans came. Once I saw the two other paths and the ammo caches at the end of them, it was a breeze. Urias Strajer went pretty quick with no deaths though. I really liked the Chris Redfield stuff, as well as the vehicle you get to use against Heisenberg. Both were totally unexpected, and really helped give the game more dimension and depth.
Right now I'm on my 2nd playthrough on New Game + with all my gear carried over, but I decided to set it to Hardcore this time. I like that you still get to use as many saves as you want, which was unexpected, but things are VERY expensive to buy. 10,000 just for one health vial. I've also still yet to figure out the best way to play the part at the village early on where lots of Lycans attack, then Urias comes in to end it. I'm not sure if his arrival is based on time, number of Lycans killed, or what, but I wasted a ton of explosive rounds there.
What difficulty mode did you play your 2nd run on? I ask because it sounded like you did a New Game + run when you were talking about all the gear carrying over. I won't really feel like I've beaten it on Hardcore unless I can do it with a fresh start though, and at this point, it seems like I have a TON more to learn if I have any hope of managing that.
BTW, I captured not just the Sturm fight, but also the Heisenberg, Redfield, and Miranda stuff. It could take some time to upload them though, and I may have to cut out the lengthy cutscenes to help speed things up.
