Windows 10 Home
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz 4.01 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080
RM 850x Power Supply

I somehow managed to build this 4 years ago on YouTube videos and decided to start looking at new graphics cards. 3080 still seems to be scarce but if one comes up in the coming years I was wondering if I need to upgrade/modify anything else. If anyone has a reliable source to purchase one besides Nvidia store or Best Buy (not Amazon/Ebay bots) would be appreciated as well.

Resolution is 1920 x 1080

Board is MSI Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon (MS-7A63)
If your resolution is 1080P and you don't have any near future plans of going to 1440P then I'd look at an RTX 3060 Ti. With that said you will still want to upgrade your board and cpu to an i5 (6 core / 12 threads) with an Intel 12 gen cpu and B660 board. They're due for release in mid January or if you wanted to go all out you could pick up a new Intel 12 gen. i5 12600K and pair it up with a Z690 DDR4 board.

Intel Core i5-12600K $299.99

i5 12600K = best overall cpu and best gaming cpu for 2021.

btw with the prices of gpu's going for an all time insane price due to the chip shortage along with the internet mining craze I'd hold onto that 1080 for now and upgrade your system. The i5 12400 that's due out in less than two months from now is supposed to retail for around $200 and a decent B660 board will probably go for $140 - $150.

So if I want to go 1440p now and prepare for a graphics card in the future with above average to high end parts what would you recommend?
Your case determines what size of AIO you're allowed to fit in there but tbh a 240mm AIO will do just fine for that cpu.

GIGABYTE Z690 GAMING X DDR4 $229.99

The case is Cooler Master Storm Stryker, seems like it should fit whatever I would need. Thank you very much for your help, I will be looking in to all of these. Now just hoping it’s a fairly easy rebuild.

I saw a few weeks back galaxstore had 3070 TI and 3080 bundles for sale with no lines, queues, etc it was first come first serve. There is a waiting list which i guess will notify you when back in stock.
