Ukranian war game

I just opened my steam client and saw a game called UWAR

I have sent the comments below to steam in the hope that they will remove it , if you agree with me will you all please make a complaint about it.

Hello to whoever reads this , i have just opened my steam client and noticed that today a free game called UWAR has been added. It is described as being based on the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. I have left a posting on the games discussions page titled bad taste game.

Bearing in mind this game is NOT about something that happened say 50 years ago , its happening as i type this , i consider it to be in bad taste and was wondering if you would consider removing it from steam.

Playing Devil's Advocate here, but what is the difference between this and a WW2 game? Does it seem gauche to make a game of a conflict that is still in living memory?

Curious because this is something I struggle with as a historical wargamer. I love my WW2 wargame and love painting my miniature guys and tanks, but it's a conflict that saw real loss of life on a pretty large scale, so what makes it ok to make a game about it versus something like a current conflict?

i object to it because its happening right now and its not a war its an invasion.

I remember when the twin towers got destroyed and months later some games companies said the towers were going to be in their latest games but they new what would happen if they got finished and released so that proves the industry does have a moral code.

Surely, but even excluding the tabletop wargames I play, in which many people like to play German's, you have many computer wargames, such as Strategic Command: War in Europe that allow you to play as Germans and conduct the invasion of Poland beginning in 1939; I'd be willing to say most of us on this forum are old enough to have known WW2 veterans, which inclines me to believe it's really not as distant as it seems.

I'm in agreement that there is some indignity in depicting a current conflict, but I'm trying to suss out why that might be and I don't think invasion has exclusive rights to it. Perhaps it's because we can theoretically meet people directly impacted by it and to make a game about such things seems to be making light of their suffering, thus it can seem rather immoral. Moving little icons on a map doesn't fully illustrate those people on the ground, their suffering and the suffering their loved ones experience.

But again, I go back to how is it different from a historical wargame? Where's that dividing line? Is the Second Chechen War too recent to make a game of? Vietnam? Certainly we probably know some people who had the experience of fighting there, as well as people impacted by it and yet we have wargames based on the conflict.

I remember playing War in Russia in the mid-80's. That was an invasion (of an ally!) and happened only about 45 years earlier at the time I was playing.

I see @mjs warlord's point, though. That war is going on right now. People are losing relatives right now. Making a game of it strikes me as deeply tasteless. It also provides no time for neutral parties (or at least people trying to be neutral) to examine what went on so the game can be based on the facts of the battles.

This particular developer doesn't seem to even have a website, which is REALLY dubious.

Personally, I wouldn't allow the game on my gaming store for another 10 years. It's not my store, though, so I'll simply Ignore the game.

Thanks for that reply Zloth ...... i googled the company who make and look how many games they made.

Type the name with a capital S and a capital P .... all one word or you get the wrong company.
I bet its and indie.
