The standard grips are as follows (written by CoPilot):

  1. Palm Grip– This is the most common and natural grip, where the entire hand rests on the mouse, with fingers extended over the buttons. It's great for comfort during long sessions, making it popular for work and casual gaming.
  2. Claw Grip – Here, the palm rests slightly on the back of the mouse, while the fingers arch into a claw shape to press the buttons. This grip allows for faster clicks and greater precision, making it a favorite among FPS (first-person shooter) gamers.
  3. Fingertip Grip – In this grip, only the fingertips touch the mouse, with the palm completely off the surface. It enables rapid movements and precision aiming, but requires more dexterity and finger strength.
  4. Some people also adopt hybrid grips based on their hand size, mouse shape, and personal preferences. If you're gaming or working for extended periods, finding the right grip can make a world of difference in comfort and performance! Which one do you think you use most?
When gaming I use the claw grip. When I'm just goofing around on the Internet or playing with AI, I generally get more relaxed and use the palm grip. A major reason I use the claw grip while gaming is because I bind things to buttons on both sides of the mouse, and this grip gives me the most flexibility to hit those buttons.

I guess I use a claw grip, but not as exaggerated as a lot of the examples are when you look for images. For me it's more like a palm grip but my hand is slightly further back so my palm is only sometimes touching the mouse. It allows me to move the mouse using only my fingers, without having to move where my wrist is resting on the desk.

I hold the mouse with my fingers and rest the top of my palm (the pads below the fingers) on the mouse, not the whole palm. I don't know if that counts as a claw.
I assume the 3 types are just the most common. I can't find a lot on hybrid methods but there are no rules saying you have to be one of the 3... so do what works for you
