Robot building games?

I'm looking for games similar to Plasma in the sense that the robots you build are more like little friendly guys rather than giant laser firing mechs, if you get what I'm saying. I've been trying to figure out how to pull it off in Scrap Mechanic but it's just not exactly possible.
Plasma isn't out yet but I'm definitely looking forward to it. In the meantime, does anybody know of something like this?

I think you can make autonomous ships in Space Engineer, but you either have to copy someone else's work/download it from the workshop and modify it or learn how to write the scripts yourself.
