Question Recommend me a city simulator

What's the best city simulator these days? I know for sure its not the always-online abomination that was SimCity 2012.
More specifically I am interested in something with really good capabilities (either out of the box or via mods) for doing roads and highways and intersections and interchanges and stuff.

Agreed. There's some weird behavior from the traffic in the vanilla version, so I'd suggest checking out some mods that fix this.

Welcome to the fold! If you're looking to expand your experience and you dig the transportation aspect of the game, the Mass Transit and After Dark DLCs are certainly worth it. I own all the DLC for the game but it's really expensive to buy all at once.
