Weird problem.
(back ground) When I explore a map, I have characters exploring different areas (at the same time) and then some characters retrace an area for like lore checks etc. When I was in Iz I have Nenio walking around one side for lore checking (I Like having her since she adds a comical value to the game that I have not found in other games yet and also, she is an ANY Lore genius. I do not try any puzzle if she is not with me), had all the other companions together and myself (Rogue), one side running around opening chests and looking for traps.
Think this needs an explanation. Took myself out of the game and reading it and the first question that came to mind is "Why do you split them?" LMAO it's something I learned in Dragon Age that gave me an unfair advantage. Call it a playstyle advantage.
In pathfinder you are a party of 6. Yourself and 5 others each with their own specialities. My party is usually myself as a rogue, then two tanks, two archers and 1 Wizard. In pathfinder the classes are slightly different but has Seelah and Sosiel as healers and tanks, Ember as my Wizard, Nenio for my Lore checks (and Archer) and puzzles and then myself as the rogue (with melee or archery. Situation dependant). Simple and straight forward. Unfortunately, Nenio is not a great fighter. Tried various weapons on her but failed. Eventually ended up giving her a Crossbow (some fancy one that freeze them on hit), but she would still die very fast. I then started protecting her inside the group by recreating the formation with Nenio right in the middle with everyone around her. Worked a bit better but two or three hits and she was down.
In Dragon age I used to split my party for "incase" I die. I would hold 1 party member far away from the fight. When all of us die and the fight is over, the one standing one side would run in and revive everyone and then everyone tailgates out of there.
Started using this with Nenio. Have my rogue scout out ahead of the others disabling traps etc and trying to stay out of sight of the enemy, then have the main group taking out the enemy and then have Nenio lore checking everything in and around. Few times everyone died, Nenio was able to keep them going. With the crossbow had a 50-attack distance so was able to take them down one by one at a distance and then just go in and get everyone up again (you know, shoot, run, turn, shoot, run, turn, shoot, run, rinse and repeat). Take a rest or potions and carry on. Does not end here though. With my Horse and dragon, I had 2 additional party members. I had 1 group of 3 (myself, a horse and a dragon), 1 group of 4 (Main attack and defend group) and the separate Nenio group (Just her) but, when possible, would add her the horse dragon group. So had two parties both having 4 members in each able to protect themselves. Made mapwork a breeze (Very important in all RPG's is mapwork). With Nenio walking around with a rogue, Hidden objects, doors, chests and puzzles was easy, and lore checks just worked.
