Its not inclusivity that makes a story suck, its the bad writing

I know a few editors and they mostly maintain that the writing in the Harry Potter books deteriorated as the series progressed and the story continued to enthrall. So if a story is good enough, it can survive being poorly written.

Stephen King—not a great writer either—has said that a great story will carry poor writing much farther than vice versa. Others of many examples:
Don Quixote
American Psycho
Dan Brown

Bad storytelling then. You cant really say prose when talking about a game.

I find in many games it is a layer of paint put on to the game, its not what makes them bad, its just a red flag that other things are bad and they trying to paint over it. Its not what makes them bad.
Many of the creatives left in the last 9 years as well, so there isn't many there who helped make the games they are reincarnating now. Frankenstein is at work again.
I dont think its a red flag at all. Games are good or bad irrespective of whether they have diverse characters.

Are some corporations doing it cynically because theyve done surveys that show the wider worldwide market mostly wants inclusivity ? Yes.

Does that mean inclusivity is something they use to somehow try and cover up a bad game? That sounds like a massive stretch to me.

its possibly a way to fund games they know will not go well, as they can get ESG funds for pushing certain ideas.
there aren't many that have succeeded yet apart from Baldurs Gate which doesn't really make a big thing about it, its just part of game. No one cares if its mixed into a good story, good games will be accepted regardless.

@Colif lol, I switched to the PCG article thread right before you posted. Funny thing that is exactly the picture I was going to post, but mixed my screenshots up! Now I don't need to though, since you got the better screenshot.

Yeah, that is a a lot of wow tokens. He also mentioned that on the Chinese version of WOW, there is a mount you can get now that costs 250USD'ish and it is even a wrong version of the classic Reins of the Swift Spectral Tiger tiger, which makes the whole thing even more hilarious.

if its exact, they either took it at exact time I took it or are somehow stealing it off Discord out of servers they aren't in...

As I took that off the Asmongold video today.

The only things I ever bought on ingame shops were mounts but they didn't cost a lot and once you bought one, it was account wide. I realise these are as well but I am not going to buy a mount that costs more than the game did. Sunk cost fallacy and all.
Wow didn't have mounts that were Traders and Banks when I stopped, but I know they been in game for years now.

Soon they take the combat out and make it a collecting game.
My Little Pony Expansion incoming.

I just don't understand why anyone still plays. Maybe I'm old man yelling at cloud, but all the stuff that made WoW interesting and good has been lost for well over a decade.

That said, in my younger days, when I had lots of time and lots of money, I definitely spent $60 or so on tanks in World of Tanks.

I'm my defense, they earned me more money in game so that I could fuel buying more in game tanks.

Tanks are pretty cool. I love tanks.

My wife plays WoW and mostly does the dungeons/raids I think. And a lot just hanging out with friends.

I probably shouldn't give out stock advice, so I'll let you draw your own conclusions about the biggest no-brainer of our lifetimes. Just imagine making much more money off of Nvidia and AMD than you will spend on their products, cumulative, for your entire life...
