I didn't really have a problem with it. I think it helps that his character is an idiot and mostly exists as comic relief, it would probably be much more unbearable if he was a serious character.

Agreed, we're at the stage where marvel's standards are slipping backwards. you can sort of smell the desperate commercialism of the movies now. There have been more duffers then winners. Not seen any of the recent stuff, so who knows it might be good or satisfying. i mean i liked doctor strange in the multiverse of madness and would love to see a 3rd movie, but i hear from die hard fans of the character it was pretty weak.
But i think disney in general are in a bit of trouble in general as nothing seems to be sticking properly. Remaking classics with realism isn't exactly working out and old winners from Pixar aren't hitting the spot either.

Disney is just pumping out a ton of content, some of it good, some of it profitable and a lot of it mediocre or just bad.
Personally, I think Andor is the last Disney creation I've seen that I consider to be actually good and something I'd recommend to other people.

Just watched Starman (1984) and K-PAX (2001) for the second time around. Both movies are about an alien that comes to visit Earth, though K-PAX got some more layers to it around the question of whether it really was an alien visiting or not. It was an interesting revisit, especially since both movies have Jeff Bridges in them. In Starman he IS the alien who visits Earth and in K-PAX he is the shrink who tries to understand the "alien".
I think both movies do a bad job at portraying how outerworld beings show their superior intelligence. In Starman, Jeff Bridges plays an alien whose species has had countless trips to Earth, so you would think they would know A LOT about its culture. That is not the case at all and Bridges kind of comes out as a complete tool at times asking about trivial stuff while at the same time can talk about just how primitive we humans are.
In K-PAX, Kevin Spacey plays the alien character and does a more realistic job in terms of the being's intellectual capacity, but also here I find the character he plays a bit too earthy for my taste, in that he is your typical HERO candidate that can save almost everyone, and he loves to strut around showing it.
Most movies just can't do the job correctly of making a distinct difference between us and IT, and unfortunately, that often means you will see tons of human characteristics in the alien, which is dumb. It's obviously cheaper that way and less time on the drawing board, but it also takes away the unknown and makes them less interesting and intricate.
That said, both movies have some good sides, and I'd like to point out that Jeff Bridges does use a lot of interesting body movements in a way to make you believe he does not quite fit in the human vessel he is using to walk around. Karen Alen does a great job as the grieving widow, Jenny Hayden.
Bridges also does a good job as the psychiatrist in K-PAX and Kevin Spacey does your typical Spacey job as the alien, Prot. It is basically Kevin Spacey playing himself, but he gets to call himself an alien.
I give Starman a 6/10 and K-PAX a 6/10. Not the best, but far from the worst out there. Your typical Sunday hangover movies.

Watched the movie BUGONIA last night and i give it a... 9/10.
Great movie with a twist. Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons are really good in this for the roles they are playing. I dont want to go into too much detail about the movie but i highly recommend it. Its got some sci-fi but its mostly "psychological horror" but not overtly gory or anything like that (does have blood/violence).
The synapsis would be, a conspiracy theorist (Jesse Plemons) concocts a plan to kidnap a powerful CEO (Emma Stone) and get her to reveal that she is, in fact, an Alien, trying to take over the earth. All the dots are connected throughout the movie as to why this person was picked particularly by this conspiracy theorist.
The movie also touches on how humans are etc. etc. But the interaction between Emmas character and Jesse's is the crowning achievement imo. Worth checking out.

Josh Hartnett plays a not so sober ex secret service agent called on a mission to sober up and bag some foreign enemy. If he does it right, he will get slate clean from earlier mishaps....you know the drill. The bag is on a plane and it turns out there is a bounty on it. Things escalate, people die..on the plane.
So, it is a fun movie for what it is, a very chill hangover movie. Josh Hartnett does a good job slapping people around. He steals the show and without him this movie would have been a slight chuckle at best. Think Bullet Train fighting, but without good actors. 6/10

i did watch a few movies (or currently watching movies) for christmas tv. The first one i finished was Oppenheimer A biographic of sorts of Oppenheimer the man credited for creating the atom bomb during WW2. it goes over his early life, his work on the manhatten project and the political fallout after completing it. Although its a biographical movie its so well made that its more a political thriller then a biographic. oppenheimer is constantly juggling his work, political and home life with everything on a knife edge. You get a sense that he is being pulled apart from all angles as he becomes increasingly conflicted with completing his grim work and the deadly implication of succeeding.
Whilst Oppenheimer succeeds in the end, it comes at a cost as he tries to warn the Us (and the world) world of the dangers of owning such an awesome weapon. ultimately the US reward oppenheimer for his work by making him a pariah and tear him down unceremonously.

Primate [2025] directed by Johannes Roberts and starring Johnny Sequoyah, Jess Alexander, Troy Kotsur and some other people.
The story is like this: Girls and one boy having a party because dad is away. A chimpanzee gets rabies and basically shreds some of the people.
It is a super dumb movie, but in a fun way, so if you like gnarly scenes with ripped faces/jaws and such, you come to the right movie. It does not take itself seriously, and the chimpanzee even shows it by basically mocking the people for their lack of even a sliver of critical thinking. It's like they all really, really want to die, and we love them for it. Perfect hangover movie.

I have to say that this is probably, going off the first 2 episodes that are available at this time, one of the better Star Trek series to come out as of late (but not as good as Strange New Worlds but it only has 2 episodes rn)
The hate that is surrounding this show is absolutely unfounded and thats not to mention the straight-bandwagon, biggoted, sexist, homophobic "WOKE!!" hive mind fervor either.
Not going to go into all the nerdy trekkie details and easter eggs that have been peppered throughout these two episodes, but I would love to have a discussion with one of these haters because, to me, this show has so much of what id expect in a Star Trek series, especially with it being the beginning of a new Starfleet Academy albeit i dont think San Francisco would look remotely like how they have it lol.
A lot of the hate is filled with people (idek if they are people and not just bots on FB to get me mad lol) that arent even watching the episodes and hating it just because of how the characters look, talk, act. Like youre WATCHING STAR TREK WHICH IS FULL OF ALIENS and youre being this judgemental already?
Probably the first series in this genre that really makes me think that there are a lot less Trekkies than i thought because if you are one of these people, and i hate using this line because everyone can be a fan of whatever for as little as you want, but you arent a Star Trek fan, simple.
So the first 2 episodes? 8/10
Chemistry between the crew? 10/10
Holly Hunter as the "academy leader/captain"?? 10/10
CGI? 9/10
Two of the lowest types of "people" that call themselves trek fans were making fun of the way Holly Hunter talks and thats literally hows shes ALWAYS talked.
Then there is the hate around another actor on the show, Tricia Black, who has only appeard in 1 episode and had 1 line of dialgoue and about 15 seconds of air time in that episode. People have taken the pictures of her on the show and dragged it through the mud because she doesnt look like say... 7 of 9. Absolutely disgusting and really doesnt give me much hope for this supposedly "nerdy" subculture.
Now, if the show gets worse over time, i will state that. Discovery started off pretty good imo, even with the Klingon changes but just went sideways imo. Im not a huge fan of Alex Kurtzman either, but people arent even giving this series a shot and its going to get cancelled too early i fear.

i actually did watch 2 movies over christmas and recently that i forgot to mention.
the first move was Spiderman across the spiderverse where we continue mile morales, like as the new spiderman whilst balancing his personal life. i enjoyed the first movie and the second one was damn good. Stylish, well thought out, clever and entertaining. it also put some serious food for thought to what it means to be spiderman and more interestingly Miles Morales himself as spiderman. Would the spiderman in Miles morales universe have lived if miles never got bitten by the spider? What are the implications for the universe with no spiderman?
the movie does end as a "to be continued", the Spot returns superpowered, Miles morales is lost in another universe, a schism is on the cards as some Gwen creates her own group that has differing opinions to Miguel's organisation. Can't wait to watch the next one.
The other movie i watched was John wick 4. taking place after events of the 3rd movie. Another great entry with another generous helping of martial arts and gun fighting. The fight across paris is a fantastic and it was a pretty good send off for the series. I have to find time to watch john wick 2 as for some reason, that one is never on tv.
