I have this new build windows 10 pc with really annoying mic input problem. My motherboard is ASUS ROG STRIX z590-e gaming wifi, after I built up my pc I found my headset mic input was really really low, none can hear me, I have to yell to make the bar move in mic test and there was no Microphone boost option in taskbar Sound -> Recording -> Properties -> Levels. The driver in device manager shows "Realtek USB 2.0" or something.

After struggle I manage to found the seemly latest driver in motherboard's website, Realtek_Audio_Driver_V6.3.9600.2276_WIN10_64-bit (published on 2021/01/27). The driver in device manager shows "Realtek USB Audio" It has the microphone boost option which allowed me to boost my input about 20 to 30db, but it came with new issue: I have horrible echo in steam mic test (mic input capture my headset output) and Realtek audio manager was never installed(not in control panel or program file) -- I cannot use audio manager to possibly fix the echo issue.

I followed some india guy's video in youtube and it leads me to Staiton Drivers website to download seemly latest driver "Realtek High Definition Audio (HDA) Version R2.8x (9132.1) WHQL" their admin submitted. After erasing my audio driver I install that driver... and that usb 2.0 is back without microphone boost again. Of course, the promised "Realtek HD audio manager" is still missing.

So now I'm stuck, I installed the asus version back and don't know what to do. Do I have to try updating BIOS(current 0232), or figure it out "Realtek High Definition Audio (HDA) Version R2.8x (9132.1) WHQL" driver and "UAD/HDA"?

its funny when you use 2 different forums and see the same question twice...

i don't think its the bios, It could be the driver issue I mention on this post - https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...iver-problem-in-new-built-windows-10.3700941/

intel have changed the way some drivers work - https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000031572/programs/intel-corporation.html and realtek embraced the change. So 2 different types of Realtek Audio driver now.

Sure, it might not be answer to question but using Youtube as a source of PC help can lead to problems :)

Yeah I went to my asus mother board forum asked and someone gave me a link to his useful resource post and step by step guide to reinstall newest asus driver

It is just ridiculous that so many people encounter the same issue I meet, and official motherboard website did not list their newest drivers at front. The driver installed automatically was wrong & without the microphone boost option, the one I downloaded from official asus website was outdated & brought me echo, and I need to have someone help me to get the newest update(which is a few versions past the one from asus website)

I don't know which versions you have now (and worst thing is Asus tends to rename its drivers so can only hope version numbers are similar)

Can you download and run Driverview - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/driverview.html

All it does is looks at drivers installed; it won't install any (this is intentional as 3rd party driver updaters often get it wrong)

When you run it, go into view tab and set it to hide all Microsoft drivers, will make list shorter.

Now its up to you, you can look through the drivers and try to find old drivers, or you can take a screenshot from (and including)Driver name to (and including)Creation date.

upload it to an image sharing website and show link here

All I would do is look at driver versions (or dates if you lucky to have any) to see what might have newer versions.

Now its possible the newer drivers are on https://www.tenforums.com/sound-audio/135259-latest-realtek-hd-audio-driver-version-2-a.html but I don't know which type you have so I wouldn't just install them without checking first.

Thank you, after I erased my realtek, sonic, DTS stuff and force deleting with Driver Store Explorer my issue was solved by installing drivers : 6.3.9600.2284 WHQL [09/03/2021], thank to the guy in asus rog forum, the procedure is here:
I have an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound Intel motherboard with ALC408x codec, so I used the Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS Intel MB) from the first post of this thread

What Im pissed off is if you go to asus official website and look for specific (mine is z590e)mother board audio driver by using support->driver/tool you could only find outdated driver V6.3.9600.2276 (1/27/2021) came with echo issue...not the latest one(3/9/2021 version 2284)
