Is it worth upgrading at the moment?

My Gaming Brothers and Sisters - help is needed!

I'm a casual gamer playing mainly Destiny 2 and CoD Warzone but with the anticipated Battlefield game on the horizon, I'd like to consider my hardware options.

Here's my current specs -

CASE: NZXT H500 Mid-Tower Gaming Case
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 - 6-Core 3.40GHz, 3.9GHz Turbo
VIDEO: AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB - DX12
FAN: Cooler Master Masterliquid Lite 120 Liquid Cooling System w/ 120mm Radiator
M2SSD: 256GB (1x256GB) Intel 760p M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD
HDD: 2TB Seagate BarraCuda SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 7200RPM Hard Drive
MEMORY: 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4/3000mhz Dual Channel Memor
MOTHERBOARD: MSI B450M PRO-VDH PLUS: M-ATX
POWERSUPPLY: Cooler Master MasterWatt Lite 600W 80+
MONITOR: Item BenQ EX2510 MOBIUZ 24.5in FHD

My thoughts were to look at a graphics card upgrade but then wondered about compatibility of the other components I had. I'm wondering whether it's worthwhile throwing a few hundred pounds at it now and if it will even make much of a difference if I do?

Will I be papering over the cracks if I do the odd upgrade here and there and if so, should I just save and buy a new system altogether? As I mentioned at the beginning, I'm a casual gamer so forking out £2000+ is a little hard to swallow...

Thanks for your thoughts and advice!

It seems it's not a good moment to buy a new graphics card. Personally, I would wait until the market stabilizes again. But who knows how long will that take.
How's your current experience with your RX 580?

I don't think we already know the requirements for Battlefield 2042, but you might do just fine at 1080p, maybe disabling a few effects here and there.

Or you can just go for Battlefield 2142 until you get a new card!
No kidding, it has a bunch of cool mods! https://www.moddb.com/games/battlefield-2142/mods?sort=dateup-desc

Now not ideal time for GPU upgrade, maybe in a year it will be slightly easier to buy one without a house loan to pay for it.

I know you didn't ask but you could update CPU as well but highest board takes is a 3950x (which is more than enough really) - https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450M-PRO-VDH-PLUS#support-cpu but probably need a new BIOS version to do it.
shouldn't need to change anything else, 32gb of ram is more than enough still

I don't particularly mind my current setup but the low graphical settings (especially Warzone) in order to reach a higher frame count is pretty annoying but perhaps I'm just citing a first world problem here!! I get what you mean about waiting for the market to stabilise though as the prices are through the roof right now!

I played 2142 when it first came out, can't believe it's still has a community of players!!!

Thanks for the info, much appreciated 🙌✌

Thanks Colif, waiting seems to be the sensible option and I'll defo look at that CPU upgrade too (y)(y)

Your RX580 is a strong card. Buying graphics card will depend on your needs. I think that RX580 is good up to 2k resolution on low to medium settings. If you decide to go high graphics then that's the time you need to upgrade. For me everything is still good except for the SSD. You need to add more capacity to install your games on a SSD.

Remember, upgrade if your current setup is not that powerful enough to do your things you want on your PC.
