Most IEM make it sound like its in your head though. It is hard to create on a device so close to your ears
Too many terms and hardly anyone in "hobby" agrees with definitions.
faking it is cheaper than making headphones that can actually achieve it.
I haven't heard actual 5.1 in years. My speakers are capable of it but windows doesn't really play it. It hasn't since 10. That did make me sad.
So directional audio isn't something I have had except on headphones, and i can't say I can point out exact locations of instruments in music beyond the obvious left/right/middle. That goes for all the headphones I own though, not just IEM.
I haven't had many IEM yet. Most in ears I have used were not IEM. So I am willing to buy more to see if I can hear from different directions. Only one I still listen to is 14 months old now, so its probably time for something else
