I haven't used it on my PC I know at one stage almost every output on my PC was steelseries but right now its now showing at all. Just my monitor that doesn't have a speaker, and my speakers.
I knew I had a screenshot

overkill. And yet its nowhere to be seen now.
What I've learned over the last two days is that Windows sound settings are a mess.

It still exists, you just need to know where to look. But if you want speakers, it does get expensive to get good ones.

Soundbars can be good, if you have a reasonable one and link it to a sub or two. Surround systems can be expensive too but price doesn't mean quality.

I am sure there is plenty of snake oil salesmen in the Audio Visual space, plenty of eager buyers who don't know anything.

Bluetooth was sold as the easy alternative but the drawbacks were never mentioned before suddenly everyone has crappy Bluetooth speakers that sound like phone speakers, muddy as hell.

Even I have one and I expect it sounds exactly like it looks

brothers joke Xmas present one year. I never used it.

Wired music is better until BT is actually lossless and doesn't include a mode that swaps back to lossy if the bandwidth isn't high enough. Pass.

I have known that for years now, its why I don't play with my sound drivers. They can be a pain to get right. I don't even bother updating them, if they work already you can break things.
So far I have ignored them completely on my new PC. Sound is looked after by beaming it to Wiim ultra via Bluetooth. How long my ears can cope with headphones is questionable.
even if they are Hifiman Arya... I hear things in videos I prefer not to... plosives. peoples mouth too close to microphones. You don't hear them over speakers. Well, my cheap ones anyway. Funny, these headphones are twice the value of my speakers... it shows.

Might buy a toslink cable and see if I can get digital sound out of PC into speakers. Instructions show it should work... I thought I had the right cable but its not.
If that doesn't work, long term is a pair of Adam speakers I guess. I haven't seriously looked as PC was main purchase this year... sound might have a come back soon.

I think later this year I will buy a pair of these

They need a level playing field and I can't really achieve that without a desk but i could buy two speaker stands and use those instead.

Need to break free from PC speakers. These can be attached to my amp via xkr cables and USB to PC at same time, and will sound way better than the ones I have now.

Not sure I can just use headphones. Its starting to get annoying.

Every day I wake up, start watching a video... recently I keep forgetting I can only get sound out of headphones and its really hard to change after 25 years using speakers. Today I started watching one and wondered why I couldn't hear anything until i heard my headphones playing. Put them on...

It doesn't feel normal to me. I don't have a reason to stay quiet... speakers actually make it easier to hear others. With headphones I have to notice them at the door. I can just leave room and not worry about being plugged in (don't suggest wireless lol). Only headset that can come close to my Arya in sound is the Maxwell.

My Logitech speakers are looking at me begging to be used. I probably buy a cable for them on Tuesday and see if I can get stereo out of them. Better than nothing.

Right now with a fan making annoying noises, headphones the only way to drown it out. I would prefer silence.

Its annoying having to swap inputs on the wiim to swap between PC and Tidal. Annoying it loses my spot in the Tidal playlist when I do.
Annoying having to use my phone to control all of this but thats just the wiim app for you.

lucky aune only runs active speakers and I don't intend to buy anything else to run them... ignores the S17 Pro Evo...

Seems I can run both the Adam D3v off the Wiim and maybe add my Logitech Sub in as a sub.
Wiim can run them all... Aune can't do a sub.

The day I got my PC was probably not the best day to also try to connect speakers to PC via digital.
I couldn't get the cable to attach to either end. So I figured I had the wrong cable and moved onto other things.
Today I thought... I wonder what that is. And tried it on the speakers again, after reading I have 2 SPDIF and 1 coax out, and wondering if I had used wrong output before. It went in first try...
alas, PC wasn't so easy but after another try, it went in as well.

So next step was figure out which output I needed to change speakers to for digital, and then turn PC on and set default to Realtek digital and I got sound... though it sounded strange. I had to change the stereo mode on the remote to just let rear speakers wake up. Not sure if the centre channel works but it didn't before so I can live with that.

Saves me wearing $1600 headphones all the time to get sound.

Hello i am looking at a headset for starting with a low budget and found this one
but i wanted to ask someone before buying it. i am quite new into the gaming world :)
I find it very hard to believe that this brandless $20 headphone is going to be any good.

If you have to go that cheap, I recommend looking at something like this: Turtle Beach

You are talking to a potential spammer.

Not sure what link tries to do but my AV warned me away from it.

Not sure why people who have been here for years still click links by new people?
looks around... erm... I guess its just habit and my AV generally catches most of the threats. Using a 2nd opinion scanner as well helps.

They can spell Wireless on the link but it loses an S on the actual page - Wireles
Sometimes typos like those used to weed up people who have seen those signs before and know its a scam. They looking for a special customer who won't wake up.

Especially so with the idea you can get good ANC headphones for that price. You don't need ANC for gaming anyway. Its more for travel.

Um, I'm running in a sandbox. It doesn't matter what links I click.

I need some new IEM, its been over a year since I got any. I got distracted by over ear headphones and the gear I needed to run them. I was going to buy some last December but other plans got in the way. I know what I want, just have to buy them.

I still need to use a set of headphones in a game... that more than likely now.

I use my IEMs for everything now, there is one slight downside i have noticed if i am to complain about something and that is that i precieve the stereo to be more stereo if that makes sence? The positional audio is less smooth but we are talking on a scale that dosn't matter and isn't realy noticable unless you realy think about it.

Are we talking sound stage? The direction from which the sound comes from?

Think the reasoning for IEM to be lacking in that area is to do with them being in your ear. Only way to overcome some limitations is using spatial audio and other software
others use planar drivers to enhance the sound regions which have been known to create the effect.

Most of the time even with the Arya it doesn't sound like noises come from everywhere. Though some music has sounded open in the past.

That's imaging. Point to where the sound is coming from. Stage is how far away it is. Smaller soundstage like on the HD600 sounds like a club or small venue. Larger soundstage like the Arya sounds more like being at a concert.
