Making a top 10 of a category that is as broad as video games makes no sense to begin with. But this list is really a top 10 of first- and third-person action-adventure/RPG games with Resident Evil 4 as a bit of an odd one out.

I'd personally add Fallout: New Vegas and one of the Assassin's Creed games in there myself and based off of ratings it seems Black Myth: Wukong might deserve a spot as well, but it's not a terrible list if you restrict it to that category.
I think Resident Evil 4 and The Witcher 3 both definitely belong in that list. RE4 was not just fantastic fun, it influenced a whole genre. The Witcher 3 was just insanely well done and the writing was at a level that you rarely find in a AAA game. Graphics were the top of its era. It is easily one of the most beloved games of all time.

Personally, another game I would add to that list is Portal 2. Even though I like Satisfactory better, I think Factorio belongs here. It was a founding member of the now huge automation/factory genre. Minecraft? It's completely nuts to leave that off the list.

  • Top 10 most fun games when they came out.
  • Top 10 most fun games two years after they came out and got patched up.
  • Top 10 most fun games you can play right now.
  • Top 10 most fun games you can play right now, mods allowed.
  • Repeat above lists for each "type" of gamer (explorer, creator, whatever else people come up with)
  • Top 10 most innovative games for their time.
  • Top 10 most innovative games for their time but with everything invented before Y2K taken as 'given' - because, if we don't, games from the 1970's and earlier dominate the list for having features like "graphics instead of text" and "ability to save your game."
  • Top 10 most fun games for you.
  • Top 10 most fun games for you in the past 5 years, so we can keep the rose-tinted glasses effect to a minimum.
Take your pick!

I've been playing too much Crimson Desert lately so I've finally decided to break up the routine a bit. I wanted to find a new game to play that would be quite different and give me a fresh experience. I settled on this game:

A few minutes in my ears and eyes began to bleed, but in such a glorious fashion that I had to keep playing. My headphones felt like they were about to blow out but the demons in the favela needed to be expunged. I had to save Brazil.

The level design is amongst the funniest thing I've experienced in any game before. I've made better maps than this on Garry's Mod 15 years ago, but that is the beauty of it. It's hard to decipher if the terrible geometry of these levels were intentional, unintentional, or just straight out of the mind of a complete lunatic. I love this game.
