I am no longer mad at my physician, but I'm a little mad at physicians overall. I've been seeing them for cognitive decline for awhile now, and not a single one suggested a medicine change. But I understand more about why they didn't. For one thing, almost all frontline Parkinson's drugs cause cognitive decline. I don't actually have Parkinson's, but I have a mitochondrial disease (unknown) that is reacting in a similar way to Parkinson's, so they have been treating me with those drugs, which has been largely successful.

Thanks to CoPilot, I think I've now charted a way forward that doesn't involve those drugs by switching to Pramipexole and a tranquilizer like Trazadone. Pramipexole has a small chance to cause cognitive decline, but usually that goes away when you stop taking it.

I am actually stunned at the number of commonly used drugs that can cause cognitive decline; for instance, Benadryl.
I think the only thing that matters is that it is sorted and was found in time. And no one got jail time or emergency room time.

I hate doing new meds. I have PTS so am on Cilift 20mg as part of my daily routine.

Well, I wouldn't exactly say it was found in time. I've been on it for 20 years, and my cognitive function is far below what it once was. Maybe some of it will come back now, but probably not.
