When I was young, I occasionally drove my mother's car, and whenever it rained, water somehow got into the drums. It was so stressful the couple of times I drove it in the rain that for many years after I would have nightmares about being in a car that wouldn't brake. My mother said she never noticed it, and accused me of running through deep water. In retrospect, she was probably correct. I don't recall having any concern about hitting the deep puddles that tend to build up on the sides of the road. I would say that teenage Zed wasn't too bright, but that's probably apparent to everyone since I'm still not too bright.

I think we were all pretty stupid at that age. I certainly did some dumb things and it's amazing I came out unscathed. My buddy used to take us in his 65 Mustang and just FLY down the highway and more than once, he couldn't actually slow down because the drums just wouldn't do the work.

Also, there's a adjusting hole on the back of the drums where you can stick a screwdriver in to loosen and tighten. Mine were previously just open, so yeah, water could get in. But my new hardware came with little rubber stoppers to jam in there to stop crap from getting in.

Maybe they were missing from your Mom's car as they were on mine.

It's been proven to me once and for all that there is a higher purpose to the universe.

I was prescribed testosterone creme by my doctor. I was reading the prescribing information, and I discovered that accidentally spreading the cream to my wife or children would cause their genitals to grow.

Hmm, this has promise, I thought. I wonder what side effects it will have for me?

Well, for me, the only thing of note is that it could raise the chances of heart attacks and strokes. Oh, and breast growth and milk production. WTF.

We don't consistently end up with this type of logic by accident.

For instance, everything that tastes really good is bad for you.

No, that has to have been done on purpose.

Woke up at 330 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep due to pain, which was pretty cool. Still having a lot of arthritis pain in my knees right now and my ankles are killing me, I'm assuming that's due to however I've been contorting myself with the car.

Had intended to do more car work today, but maybe I'll take it for a drive, test it out and run some errands instead. Maybe nap if I can, though I'm bad at that.

Testosterone seems kind of pedestrian for a House episode. I only read a two paragraph summary of the episode, but if the kids were going through "precocious puberty" (I think that's what they call it), I would expect the doctor not to struggle with a diagnosis, but there was probably more to it that the summary didn't mention.

I've been bad at staying up too late the last week of revisiting Gears of War 4 and Gears 5. You have to be really in tune with how to play these games or they can punish you in places even on the default modes. Despite a 3rd day on just 6 hrs sleep though after a maddening session of Gears 5, I managed to get my full workout in after watching my Seahawks lose a game they should have won.

The treat of the whole day was watching the last 8 min of Sunday Night Football where the Bills played their last game at their outdoor stadium. They were being walloped by the Ravens most of the game and were down 40 to 25. The Bills managed to come back and win scoring 16 points in about 4 min. Ravens star running back Derrick Henry fumbled after having a stellar night otherwise.

So I have to be optimistic about our Hawks. Despite every other team in our division having won this week, it just feels like we've yet to tap this team's full potential.

Ok, I'm making my final post.

Before I have to get up and do stuff today. I just wanted to finish my coffee and now I'm delaying all the little things I need to get done today before my trip that I don't really want to do right now. So here we go, I'm going to post this, then stand-up, change my clothes and start by mowing the lawn in 3...2...1...
Just don't trip and fall under the lawn mower like this poor chap!

Got all my new software's and got it installed and working with my equipment (Friendly suppliers I bought it from came and installed. The friendly guys also brought along a Komplete Kontrol S88 Mk3 keyboard as my toy for during the installation process.

Guess that would be on my "to get" list not that I am any good at actually playing anything physically. As the salesman pointed out I will get to know it and note input in Dorico would be so much easier.

We will see......

Along with the bundle came a program named VSDC. Some video making software. Think they are trying to tell me something....LMAO. I will have to start playing with that notion eventually and add some form of video's to the music.

Got no idea where to even start so have the manual open on the laptop and when I am bored, I read a page or two. See if I get to understand anything about video making. Figure I will just have several images jammed together and add music to it.........kinda thing

Always knew deep down inside there is a reason why I do not like lawnmowers...........Will show this to the wife, then she will understand why I hardly touch the lawnmower........LMAO

Never saw that movie or nothing seemed familiar, just "crinched (Do not know how to spell that)" when the guy stepped into the piece of glass.

Are you familiar with Music Maker? It basically song creation for people who don't know anything about song creation, and works by putting loops together, etc.

I'm just curious what your opinion is on whether it is safe to use all those loops (sorry, I'm not sure where they come from. I don't think they say) with all the lawsuits going on. I'm not using it myself, but I saw people talking about using it on a development forum.

There's one every summer. My great, great Grandpappy went down the same way and since then, I've sworn vengeance on lawn mowers.

It's why I only do my own lawn with scissors.
"Death by lawnmower" Just 1 per summer? (LMAO

You need to relook at your statistical DATA. If you do not die of sunstroke, heat exhaustion, thirst, boredom or lawnmower blades, then you do not have a big area to mow and then might be at 1 per summer. I am supposed to mow (Key word: suppose) around the house and then use the tractor and slasher if I go out further for snakes and fire lanes etc.

Even though the small one is a ride-on for around the house the wife refuses to let me drink and drive on it. So then Back to thirst and heat exhaustion and boredom.

Lucky the wife has the garden service on speed dial, I just do the fire breaks (Allowed to drink and drive on the tractor). LMAO

Loops are a "Grey" Area and also a scary area.

Let me try to explain why and the reasoning behind it. Easiest way to explain a "Loop" is use an example. Say, AC/DC Thunderstruck. The lead guitar plays a Riff (Loop) low, high, low, high etc. Each note is simply a note, whereas the combination of them forms a riff (Loop)So, I can play say an E, B, E, A, E anywhere I want too, but as soon as I follow the pattern I step into Copyright problems.

Loop packs fall under that. I can use the loop, can play the loop and even commercialise the loop, BUT as soon as I monetize on it, they want their pound of flesh on it. Some just want recognition; some wants part of the profits. All depends on who you are dealing with and how deep your pockets are.

I need to explain the procedure so that the loop usage can make sense.

The procedure is fairly simple. Let's say I sent out a song (Own creation) on sound cloud. Their system checks for copyright items all over the internet. So, if a "Part" of my song sounds similar to something that is copyrighted the song gets removed and I get notified. I then need to appeal the removal. This way I can find out who Copyrighted the part, and I can deal with them either directly or via sound cloud. You will note that Loops available are plastered all over the internet. Along with that, they are dated and on the supplier's website for preview. This is however the part that a platform like Sound Cloud picks up and because it has an earlier time stamp as yours, it gets stopped on your side. From there a "Seize" notification gets sent to you and you are forbidden (By Law) to use anything in or about that specific song. If you have the money, you may appeal the notification but in general most musicians cannot afford it and just carry on. I personally have 7 songs I am not allowed to touch because of "Seize" orders and cannot afford to appeal them. Fortunately, none was monetized.

Bigger studio's will "Seize" your song, monetize on it for several years and then release it back to you. Meaning you lose the money it generated over that time period but are now allowed to call it your own again. (It's a trick the big boys do to make money out of small artists and because we cannot afford an appeal against them, they just take the money and laugh all the way to the bank.

So, with all that said, beware of using loops even if it says, "Royalty Free". With you being in the gaming industry, last thing you need is for your game to be "Seized" because you used a "Loop" from say someone like Ghost packs or something. Rather outsource, if possible, then the artists part will be seized and not your game. Unfortunately, if you do Audio and creation you get "Seized" on everything but if it is different artists (Creators) only the artists part gets seized.

E.g Claire's audio. We all love it. If a "Seize" should get issued to the game, the developer will simply pass the buck to the composer and find new music for the game. Minimal downtime as opposed to the whole game being pulled down cause of a Seize order.

Trust me they do not play nice when it comes to money and most artists has been through it a few times.

Edit: You will be amazed how many artists will help you and will only ask a percentage when the game starts selling. Risk both sides but many artists will kill for a possibility like that.

Yes, I know I have answered but after thinking about it think it would be fair to give you an alternative to "Hiring an Artist.

In pretty much all the DAW's I know (FL Studio, Cubase, Cakewalk etc.) you have VST's (Virtual instruments). Cubase are a bit more involved so figured I will use FL Studio as an example.

After adding your instrument and channel, you can open up your Piano roll. Top left you have a drop-down menu (Cannot remember if it was a spanner or a just a downwards arrow). When you open that you have several options in there. First one is a Riff generator and second one is a Chord progression generator.

In the riff generator it generates random notes within a specified parameter. You can set Loop factors, arpeggio repeats, depth, note repeats and how many octaves. This will give you a "Melody" of sorts. Randomly generated and 95% does not belong to anyone. Once you are happy with your "Melody" you accept it, and it will go to your instrument list where you can then edit it to your liking.

Chord progression is a lot more involved (personal opinion, since I have a complete sequence before accepting a Chord progression. I first use tone space to get my Chord set. I enter those chords along with my Key into the generator and then start adjusting it. Either for rhythm, different chord, maybe have a bass note with arpeggio my high notes etc. I can take my melody (Made in Riff generator) and add it to this and generate chords that will suite my specific melody.

Again, once done you have a 95% chance that it belongs to no one even though you created it from scratch itself.

I would suggest going this route before using Loop Packs. There are other ways and more efficient ways to generate loops and or progressions with various VST's on the market. If you feel adding to the expense bill is not for you then it would be worth it to generating your own. Remember playing Thunderstruck in Key of A minor and playing Thunderstruck slower and in G sharp, it stays thunder struck. So just changing instrument, tempo and key is not going to get you past the copyright thing. Trust me many have tried (Ask David Bowie and Queen about that one and think Em-n-Em awas also part of it somewhere)

Finally worked out why it wouldn't upload

Imgur changed it so you can't upload images if you use the old home page design... but I like the old one over the new one as it showed all my images in one place... now they not as easy to find on new design... its all about posts.. I don't care about that... they trying to make people social... gl with that, I been on Reddit 20 odd years now and never posted.

I had a weird thing happen not that long ago. I made a video, and at the beginning of the video, it played, a portion of Vivaldi: Spring. After the wake-up sequence, the song switch to an original song I made myself (more of a loop than a song, really). So I posted the video and got a copyright notice for the Vivaldi song. It gave me an address for the Video that supposedly owned the Vivaldi song. I watched the video and the music had been done very similarly to mine in that Spring was weaved into an original song. I knew that the artist had borrowed the Vivaldi clip from exactly the same place I had. They were identical. So I contested the copyright and sent the other guy a note saying that I thought I had been hit by accident by their automated system and that I assumed he didn't actually own the rights to the orchestral version he used and provided a link to it. That's a long story to say that artist didn't object to my contesting the claim and YouTube reversed the decision. By the way, my video wasn't monetized.

But it's confusing to me because YouTube is a disaster. The Vivaldi song we both stole was uploaded by some random person who had nothing to do with the orchestra that performed it, and now some other artist was being given credit by YouTube for owning that performance (I'm sure that was some automated thing, and that guy didn't even know).

By the way, my video was just a dumb clip of a game I played that I uploaded for people here to watch. If it had been something important, I would have performed it myself.

There are people on Imgur that just wander around looking at other people's pictures for some reason. I know this because a long time ago I used them for the pictures I posted here, but no matter what the picture was or what I captioned it, when I went back to upload another picture, people had already been downvoting my original one. "Guess what, jackwads? You should find a different hobby" Anyway, I finally figured out how to make the pictures private. But then I started using a better (for me) site that isn't quite as full featured since all I was doing was copying the address and posting it over here.
