Hey guys, does anyone here (probably on west coast US) shop at Safeway grocery store? I ask because for some time their website more often than not will not properly search for products. I always compare prices this way to Fred Meyer when I make my grocery list. I used to buy about half of what's on my list at each store. Now I only buy a few items at Safeway and like 20 items at Fred Meyer. Has anyone else had problems searching for items on Safeway's site?
On top of that it is often hard to get hold of their phone staff, or you'll be told it will be an hr or two wait even in the morning. So I contacted their chat instead after twice being disconnected by phone, and chat live agent says to try the app or a different browser. I told her I'd rather use the site on my desktop because searching for this kind of thing on a tiny screen takes too long, and that I am using Chrome. When I said or can't your idiot IT person even get the site to work with Chrome anymore, she said she'll have to end the chat if I continue to talk that way. I then chose to end the chat myself.
So I called back a 3rd time, and this time told the lower tier staff person please do not disconnect me. She said others had complained about the site not working, and their techs are working on fixing it (it's been months). I said they must be dragging their feet or incompetent, because it's been a problem a long time. I asked to talk to a supervisor. When the sup came on the phone she tried to give me this BS after telling her a product I couldn't search for, that she could find it on her end and they would fix my account from their end.
I said, hold on a minute, I do not trust any of your IT people to fiddle with my account, and I was just told by your lower tier person your techs have already said they are trying to fix it on YOUR end! She then came clean and admitted they need to fix it. I ended by saying I feel bad for your store employees, because none of this is their fault and they shouldn't have to lose business over it, to which she agreed.
I get the feeling Safeway corporate has gone through a changing of the guard with the higher ups lately, because things used to not be nearly as bad with their site or phone service. Another thing I told the sup is even when Fred Meyer completely changed the look of their site lately, which I don't like because it's a dorky cartoon look, the transition went seamlessly and their search function always worked.
