Speaking of dump/dumping: Today I was doing some training in the woods and when I got back to nearest public road one of the first things I noticed was a dog waste bag with crap in it. It was literately 2 meters from the nearest public waste bin! Another time I had to call the City Operations Department because in one of the local bus sheds there was glass on the ground and a bunch of litter and it had been like that for over a year. Another time I was trekking in the woods and noticed an old chocolate plastic container. Had to bring it with me because someone did not bother. Some people just think differently.
Here is another example of just that: When I was a small kid I was riding in the car with a friend and his mother. We were eating some chocolate and when I was finished with it, I put it in the door pocket trash bin. What did the mother do? She threw the plastic wrapping out of the car window. I still remember that, still wonder what was going on in her head.
Oh, and a really interesting example of waste management: I was throwing away some stuff from my apartment and ordered one of those local garbage trucks to come pick it up. I had to sort the different garbage and there were restriction as to what they could take. They took an hourly price + some taxes. Then when the garbage truck arrived, the driver just said I could throw whatever I wanted inside, it would be crushed anyways. Metal chairs, wires, springs, screws, whole bed, TV, didn't matter. Why? Because that particular truck were driving around to different businesses and picking up everything to crush. So, I kind of stood there after I had gotten rid of the garbage, wondering why the kakapo private householdings should sort the garbage when these large companies could just throw away anything they wanted, having it crushed and just pay a larger fee for it.
