People like you are always asking me to get stuff off high shelves as supermarkets.

I always ask people like you to tie my shoes.
I'm not actually short btw. I just read that joke on a sports forum and thought I'd share. We're a family of circus freaks. The shortest are my wife and daughter at 6-2. My wife says I wear clown shoes.

That's fine. Just don't ask me to tie your shoes. 🤣🤣🤣
I'm already ahead of you. I got rid of all my real clothes when I retired. I have one pair of shoes that need tying, but I only use them for weddings and funerals. My other shoes just slip on. Heck, I only use those once a week or so. I almost never leave the house, and usually when I do it's because I have an appointment to argue with doctors, which I do two to four times every 3 months. I get my groceries and meds delivered to the house.

I'd like to go further on this topic.
I'm 38 and only recently have I realised, after wearing sneakers since childhood, how comfortable leather shoes can be.

Yet, I've realised that many older gentlemen these days do indeed prefer to wear sneakers, even ones that are lace-ups.

Is it just to do with the struggle to bend downe and put them on in the morning? Are shoehorns too much of a hassle?
Or is it really a comfort thing when feet are more rigid and swell up later in the day?

My father passed away over 10 years ago at a relatively young age (65) so this is one more of the many things that were left unfortunately un-asked..

For me it's just about convenience and comfort. Bending isn't a problem here in my late 50s except for my back injury, but that's only bending in certain ways. Bending forward isn't a problem. And my feet don't swell up. It's not like I'm 85. I realize that at 38 everyone over 50 probably gets lumped together :ROFLMAO: The body's decline is very slow. Honestly there isn't that huge a difference between late 30s and late 50s, but this depends on how well you've taken care of yourself. You do start to get stiffer, but nothing a little stretching can't help with.

Here's an example of the shoes I wear. Leather, extremely comfortable, and the loop on the back means no shoehorn is necessary. Personally, I like the looks of a lot of these mocs, too. You can get them for all-purpose (other than formal). Thanks to the Internet, they are easy to find in bigger sizes, too, although I really prefer to try them on before I buy them. Sometimes one size that worked for one shoe makes my feet hurt with another shoe.

I do have (but forgot when I was posting above) some lace-up Nike sneakers, but I got them for running, and I can't do that anymore due to the back injury, so they've just been in my closet for years.

And I also have pair of Kroks mostly for going to the mailbox or walking around with the dog in the yard. Right after I retired, I wore nothing but Kroks for awhile. That and workout clothes, but my wife had a little talk to me about that :ROFLMAO:

Just went to a wake of the brother of a friend of the family.
The last time I'd seen the deceased's kids (who are about my age), was 30 years ago when we were being ferried around in the back of a Peugeot 205, playing on a Game Gear.
Strange to think that 30 years ago we would ever bet that the next time we'd meet would be at their dad's wake.

Probably not coconut monkey worthy insight but it's what's on my mind

It probably depends on the kind of shoe as well. My wife made me a pair of leather derby shoes, but they have very little padding and are quite inflexible, so my sneakers are a lot more comfortable for daily wear.

So, I've lived in the northern part of the most south eastern state in the US for almost 30 years now and for the first time that I know of it actually snowed.
Alaska!? ;)
(It's not very far south, but parts of it are very VERY far east!!)

The snow we got back on the 5th is mostly gone, except for the big piles by the road and places that are in the shade most of the day. It's time for a refill! Unfortunately, there's nothing in the forecast. Oh well.

Mr Nitro Circus goes to Crazy Town, and takes a new young phenom with.

I can't believe Travis being in his 40s, two weeks away from a knee replacement, would do something this crazy, even after breaking his hand a couple minutes prior!

Here's another pretty good video involving extreme off road recovery. It has one of the coolest tow trucks I've ever seen.

I have an urgent announcement to make: Yesterday I did the unthinkable and managed to cut my finger. It was a small superficial diagonal papercut on top of the index finger. I'm all right guys, maybe feeling a bit dizzy, but the thing is, it hurts when I press my finger on the mouse button. So I managed to build myself an advanced cushioning device made up of Billy's Pan pizza wrappings and duct tape that I have placed on my finger and now I am in much less agony.

Wow, and I was patting myself on the back just for finally managing to find some nose pads that perfectly fit my Gunnar Optiks Phantom MLG blue blocking gamer glasses, after I lost one pad. I think you've clearly got me beat, all I did was look on Amazon for an hour and click.

I also have an emergency announcement. Last night I got tired of my long hair again, grabbed the scissors and asked my wife if she wanted to cut my hair. She's never cut anyone's hair before. She grabbed the scissors and less than 2 minutes later she was done. It's so horrible that every time I look in a mirror I start laughing. When she handed me the scissors back, she said, "You should go get a real haircut now," but I think I'm just going to buzzcut it myself here in a bit.

Frindis is facing a real crisis here, unable to wield and click his mouse and you come in here all high and mighty, chauvinistically talking about how you can still click?

Disgusting. Have some compassion.

@ZedClampet I'm not sure if a buzzcut can be 1-2mm, but I use that measurement when using the machine. I'm saving top dollars not paying to get it done. I also don't use shampoo or conditioners because that garbage does nothing. Just a way to trick consumers into believing that it "repaaaairs" your hair or something stupid like that. I'm sure my hair smells a bit more like a wilderness fragrant, but it's never been more healthy. I'm sure people with dry scalps get some help with natural/organic shampoo and the like, but I tell you, hot water will do an equally good job if you do it over several months.

Do you do it yourself?

I feel like Zed might need one of these
