Hi everyone, I want to ask professional advice regarding the upgrade to mi gaming PC.

Here is the story I usually build a “capable” gaming rig every 5 years; my last rig is about 7 years old and is starting to show its age (GPU has been upgraded to a RTX 2070) and I want to build a rig that will last me comfortably another 5 years with the occasional GPU upgrade to keep up with the latest games.

I needed a little help with the parts regarding being the latest since I am buying the rig in parts over the next several months (3-4) and I want to avoid buying something that is getting a significant new version in a few months. I have been, due to work and family, mostly out of the loop in PC gaming hardware in the last few years beyond GPUs.

I usually buy at Amazon, preferred brands are Intel, Corsair, Gigabyte, Western Digital and NZXT.

I am currently doing 1080p gaming, but I will hopefully make the leap to 1440p - 4K with the new rig and a RTX 3070ti if I manage to gent my hands on one eventually, not upgrading my monitor just yet (currently have a LG E2441)

All advice is welcomed especially regarding compatibility between the parts, mobos, SDDs and cases

The PC is mainly for gaming, but I also do graphic design

Feel free to chime in or ask any questions :)

Parts I selected:

CPU is moving target, there is always something new. I don't know Intel so not sure what is best there.
not sure when Samsung release a PCIe4 NVME, but difference between 3 & 4 isn't that noticeable yet
not sure about air flow in that case, I would aim for one with a mesh front over a closed off front. I don't know what NZXT offer in that regard. PC won't get that hot with aio anyway but gpu needs fresh air too.

PC looks okay to me.

I'd change a few things on there. First off I'd never recommend a Corsair CX psu. They're low level at best. If you go the Corsair route then look at a TX, RMX or HX series psu. Secondly NZXT quality has tanked. Thirdly the i5 11400/11400F trades blows with the 11600K when run with the power limits turned off in the bios. Fourthly if this is a gaming build and not a media build then size up on your SSD. Games are only getting bigger these days not to mention NVMe SSD's throttle down when they start to fill up past the 3/4 mark.

This case not only has better airflow, it's twice the quality as that NZXT.

Lian-Li LANCOOL II Mesh $112.00

Super Flower manufactures the high end psu's for EVGA.

Super Flower Leadex III Gold 750W 80+ Gold Modular Power Supply $129.99

Either of these boards will allow you to run those Intel cpu's with the PL turned off. It's a round a bout way of OC Intel's locked cpu's.

ASUS TUF GAMING B560M-PLUS WIFI $150.00

or ...

ASUS TUF GAMING H570-PRO WIFI $189.99

Exact same specs as that Samsung you have linked including the DRAM cache and also has a five year warranty as the Samsung. Only difference is it's a 2TB drive.

PNY CS2130 2TB M.2 PCIe NVMe Gen3 x4 Internal SSD $233.31

This saves you a few dollars on the cpu cooler not to mention the fact it can easily handle the 11400/11400F or the i7 11700F.

Cooler Master MasterAir MA410M Addressable RGB CPU Air Cooler $64.99

Intel Core i5-11400 $189.99

Review of that cpu. Look for Core i5 11400F + Opt on the benchmarks.

A better look at that case.

The 11400F is a lot cheaper and only a little slower then Ryzen 5600X,

Its also a little faster than the 3600X and around the same price. Now that Intel are allowing XMP on non flagship chipsets they've become the best value option, funnily enough.

5900/5950X are still best options at top end, 5800X was always overpriced for how it performs vs Intel equivalent but cheaper options (10700 and 11700) in games.

Ryzen does do it all at lower power though, and they do better in most non gaming stuff at equivalent core counts.

Thanks guys for the advice! I quick question what should I expect from Amazons Prime day regarding deals for the parts I need? What should/could get discounts?

The only things that have lowered price but do not have the Prime Day tag are the HDD that is like $60 less and the RAM that is $35 less, should I buy those two right away?

Thanks!

I just built a 10600KF, 32GB corsair 29XX(its chip/board max), same m.2 650w. the only difference is the cards i'm running a bit slower 1060 6GB, but basically it's very close over all. The system is awesome, you shall not be disappointed.

you might wanna check your boards clocks on the ram, you can often save money on that if you are just using stock settings or turbo ect. Ram was about 155 this december, i just paid nearly 200 about a month ago.. Kinda got screwed on that timing.

Thanks! Would you recommend I buy the RAM at the current offer of $175 or should I wait?
