If the Ashes of Scummy behavior have taught the gaming community (and I guess also developers) anything it is to do more research about people before either backing or supporting a new studio. This also goes to the influencers who promote these games, since they have a lot of say in how much funding a studio could get.

I have never put money into any new game"" unless its early access, and so far all the games I bought on Steam in that state exist in a finished state (except titans quest 2 but they are still making it)

I don't follow influencers, apart from maybe Asmongold but as of yet never played anything he plays... i generally don't watch him play games. If I watch a play through I just want the game, people who interact with chat while playing don't interest me... I am just there for the gameplay.

MMO need about a year of survival before I would play them. So many have come and gone, only a few last. Wow is not even the game it started out as...

speaking of Asmon (speaking of the game her used to love)

the last "influencer" I may have listened to was TotalBiscuit and he has been dead for years... pity that. I prefer people who tell you the truth about a game, not shill anything. Some of the channels I like most do that. One stopped which sucks as plenty of channels to blow smoke out of the bottom of games, but very few tell you the truth. Rest you have to watch game play and see if game is worth playing.

** okay maybe I subscribed to age of conan at launch but it did eventually become a game, I played it for 3 years.
