YouTube Reach Dropping for Gaming Content – Anyone Else Seeing This in 2026?

Been uploading a few gameplay videos again recently (mostly FPS stuff and some open-world), and something feels off compared to how it used to be.

Like, a video will start picking up a bit, then just completely stop getting any traction after that. No gradual drop, just dead. I even tried changing up the style a bit — shorter videos, getting straight into gameplay instead of slow intros, that kind of thing — but doesn’t seem to change much.

Short clips are even more random. One will do alright, next few barely get seen at all. Not sure if it’s just the games I’m playing not being “hot” right now, or if the system is just way more picky than before. Anyone here uploading gaming stuff recently and seeing the same thing?

I don't upload to Youtube, but I watch a decent amount of it. I recall a few months ago many of my people I watch saying that Youtube changed something on the backend and no one is sure what, but everyone's views have been dropping precipitously. Even bigger channels like RedLetterMedia mentioned that something is different (guess this was about 7 months ago, according to the upload) and views have dropped.

So it's possible they changed something with their algorithm again and that may explain the drop. Maybe there's a subreddit that can provide you with better answers?

I'm sure there's more subreddits for this as well. Good luck.
