yeah AA was a damn decent game. I argue it was probably a linear metroidvania as you could explore but if you follow the objectives you will eventually circle back to previous areas and complete them as needed.

What i liked about AC was that it seemed like a natural progression up from AA. We had the advantage of a lot more varied areas/scenary and we get to see more of batman's villains in play. Some people say that perhaps some rogues only got a small part when they deserved more. Like clay face being the final boss is a massive cop out and we see other minor characters make cameos when they could have been a more significant time. Arkahm knight just took it too far with it. I mean who the hell is black friar? Dr Pyg only makes a small role and raz al ghul/ league of assassins has an even smaller part that its embarassing.

You remember the specifics way better than I do. I have flashes but its probably mixed up in my head with Arkham Origins which I also played about the same amount. I remember I liked the combat and that the city looked great, but that I got a bit annoyed with the side stuff feeling repetitive after a bit and thats about it lol.

yeah arkham origins wasn't great. ok but nothing compared to the other arkham games. I found it rather uninspiring and a wasted opportunity. Partly because the story picks up at the start of batman's career so we're stuck with second tier villains and characters that haven't fully fleshed out. Besides the snow mechanics, the rest of the visuals weren't all that great. The city especially was small and drab. if that was Gotham city it was a real disappointment.

never played the multiplayer as i got the game late. Apparently it was ok, but meh. more insulting was when the Devs were informed of game breaking bugs that needed fixing and instead told everyone they weren't going to fix it was making DLC was their priority:

So yeah, not a particulary good look. But its WB so its partly expected.

People were bringing up Arkham Knight as a game that still looks great when Suicide Squad released, but I remember everyone being upset how badly it ran at launch it being released with a lot of Nvidia GameWorks stuff. I wonder if they really fixed that or if hardware just got faster and made it look better on newer systems.

I got the telltale series of the batman games because i like games with that style of graphics , i did not bother with the other batman games because i think everything was way too dark , i know its supposed to add atmosphere to a game but not for me.

I think the first game Arkham Asylum was a little more colorful, at least in my probably flawed memory. But yea the last 3 were all set at night in Gotham.

I never played the Batman TellTale series, but I liked a lot of their other stuff. Its a shame they crashed out.

Have you seen Dispatch? I have it wishlisted, I understand its in that style and really good, so I'm waiting for it on a sale later.

i heard the controversy as well. The game wasn't ready and the tech demos nvidia or whoever released for it were lies apparently. They manipulated the footage or something.

Thankfully i got it a couple years later when the game was reduced to a knock down price because of the controversy and when i played it, it ran fine. OK, i lie, i had to tweak some memory settings in windows first (can't remember where) and it worked flawlessly.

Fun fact, Arkham Knight was one of my first games i played on my current pc along with the division i recall. The latter the snow on the ground was phenomenal. Arkham knight's smoke effects was nice, but everything else was meh. Wasn't all that impressive.
