I would say Challenger especially with handler, the dog takes agro and I get close and personal with the mobs, for bosses (especially ones that float that the dog can't get to) I might switch out for medic for the extra heals

I think the best Archetype is either the Archon or the Alchemist.

Archon because it basically focuses the game on it's most unique aspects: the myriad mods for your weapons.

Alchemist because it's such a flavorful class and it feels like I make a huge difference to my party and have lots of unique buffs.
