Question Why am I struggling to play Marvel's Spider-Man 2 with an RX 590 GPU?

Hi,

Firstly, before you ask, yes I am considering upgrading but not for the next few months, life. I would love to milk this card until I swap onto a better setup, that's why I am even making this post.

For some time now I've been battling with my RX 590 to try and run Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PC ( Steam, I am not interested in repacks/cracked pirated versions ) and I was ( still am ) defeated all the time.

Firstly, when I launch the game ( before the menu with all graphical presets etc ) I get met with "Your gpu is not supported". This is one of the most frustrating pop ups I've seen so far because there are cards 4 that are 3 or 4 years older than RX 590 and they are able to at least run the game, even if on 30 fps, while I can't get past the 2nd cutscene into action, like bruh...

I try to run the game, I get to the main menu and start a new save, I get past the first cutscene, then it's the time for the cutscene into the action moment where Pete and Miles jump off the building and after that you are able to swing for the first time ( you should, cause of course I can't ). As they jump down the building and Miles shoots his webs out, the game freezes and I get ( 0x887A0006: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG )

I've tried everything, different drivers, presets etc etc etc.

Are there any RX 580 or RX 590 users who managed to bypass the blockades?

I am not a very demanding player, if I can run a game with some FSR or whatever on the very low settings, I am fine, as long as I can play it. I played both Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales on this GPU and about every game I wanted.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is literally the only game I am unable to play on my RX 590, and it's quite insane to me. I can play about every new/recent title with about enjoyable fps even if on the lowest settings, but not Spider-Man 2, no no no, not this one...

Is there anyone here who managed to conquer the stupid blockades left out by Nixxes to prevent players from playing this game on older gpus, or am I doomed and unfortunately have to upgrade?

It could be drivers don't support the game.

another user with same card/game situation - link

It appears to be a lack of certain DX 12 features in the cards hardware that you can't fix with software

Update to new GPU might be only reliable fix
