Which headset is the best to play FPS?

Should I buy something cheap or expansive? Is Steelseries good for casual player?
Personally, I think the software for the SteelSeries headsets overcomplicates things.

There are a lot of cheap headsets that sound good and have surround sound, which is what you need for FPS games.

I don't know where you live, but I'm in the US and the HyperX Cloud II has surround sound, and it's currently on sale on Amazon for $46. My son had one of those and the sound quality was surprisingly good for an affordable headset.

SteelSeries would work, too. Just don't come back and ask me how to set it up :)

I don't think the headset quality matters too much in FPS games, at least not on a casual level. What I mean by that is that if you use settings like scout or footsteps enhancer, then a lot of the quality of the headset goes away and you are left with a more focus on amplifying the sound, than on the quality of it.

If I play PUBG or Arc Raiders I don't really get a rich and beautiful sound experience without something like scout mode/footsteps enhancer on, but I'll be able to hear footsteps from different buildings or floors in a building or shoots from further away, making it much easier to get an understanding of where people are fighting on the map.
