What's your favorite game theme song?

The song that plays when you boot up the game. Not all games have them. Mine is from Atlas, a game that has endless potential, but which will probably never reach even a small fraction of that potential. But I sure do like the theme song.

That's a great theme song. Its opening is so much stronger than the other theme songs mentioned.

Great choices all, great thread!

I have to go with the first video game music to win a Grammy Award:

This was my first thought as well.

I think I actually prefer Morrowind's theme song:

Another favourite of mine:

I've never played Morrowind. I never knew they had the same melody in them. I might agree Morrowind's song is better. But I think when I was playing Skyrim, the shoutiness of the song kind of applied to what I was playing, and it seemed exciting. But not having played the game for a while, I'd agree that the other song is done better.

But Morrowind's loading screen is a lot more boring, though.

Halo's, be it 3 or Infinite's is the one that resonates most strongly with me. Other games fill me with great joy, such as Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer or The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, but none actually prepare me for a solid few hours of Slayer and Oddball quite like that.

Though I have recently been playing a lot of Hell Let Loose and have had to put up with Erika. Like, a lot. Not a day has passed that I haven't gone "Und das heißt," *stomp stomp stomp* "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerika!" at least nineteen times.

Some of the music in Diablo 2 probably should be on here except if you play game enough, you start to not like the music as you hear it too much. Its hard to get music right in a game that can be played for as long as that one.

Music in Fallout New Vegas also starts to grind after a while... or maybe thats just the loading screens.

I assume playing your favorite songs as levels in Audiosurf doesn't count? as then list is longer :)

Well, @WoodenSaucer beat me to the Skyrim theme song which is one of my favorites, as well as @Pifanjr listing Morrowind, which is arguably the best music of the last 3 Elder Scrolls games. But not to forget the middle brother of the last 3 Elder Scrolls games, there's Oblivion:

And for any fan of the Mass Effect series, there's the theme song from the original Mass Effect:

There's also the theme song from Witcher 3, which never falls to give me goose bumps:

I was going to add something about modding music into a game, but it seems a departure from @ZedClampet 's original post, so I'm making a separate post on that subject.

I put that on, and Untitled Goose Game crashed to desktop—WTF?
But yeah, definitely a wild hunt song :)

Since we're having seconds, I'll add in the Crysis theme, which builds nicely to that epic scene where you crest the hill as dawn breaks—altho there's also the fav combat song which is as good.

I posted in the other current thread about Red Alert's Hell March.

Skyrim is the only TES game I've played, other than I briefly played Oblivion (very briefly). I didn't realize they all incorporate that same melody into their songs, only in much different arrangements.
