Basically, what I'm getting from all of this is that you call whatever you want a walking simulator. It's not a genre. It's an insult.
I think this is true in most cases. And in the remainder, where the devs self-identify as having made a walking simulator, they are basically art installations, as someone else suggested.

I guess some people like cleaning. Why else would you do it as a living...
Because that's what your skills are? Because you need to put a roof over your head and you don't have any fancy white-collar education like we take for granted? Most people don't do their job as a “vocation”, they do it because they want to eat.

But some people do it because they like doing it.

I wasn't suggesting it was the only or main reason.
I mean you did literally ask “Why else would you do it as a living”, so I told you why lol. But okay. I have cleaners in my extended family and it's a very physically tough job that they do because that's the best paid work they're qualified for. Yes, they tend to be naturally tidy people, but they'd rather be doing something else.

think of worse.... for instance

Hey thanks for that! Only a couple of months ago a family member in medical training was lamenting the lack of casual autopsy simulations. Should find a big market if it's any good.

Farming Simulator

If it's realistic, should save a lot of naïve people from pursuing their dream life change, thus being a major help to society ;)

cleaning. Why else would you do is as a living

What, you can get paid for it??? Honey…

cleaners … a very physically tough job … they're qualified for

I assure you, also tough if you're not qualified :D

I guess some people like cleaning. Why else would you do is as a living... so you right, what some people find enjoyable leaves others scratching their heads. I have watched videos on people cleaning out drainage pipes & cleaning drive ways, but I have yet to play it as a game. It can be good to compare what the property looked like before to after... it can be a sense of achievement

really, very little difference between that and qix. One just offers a challenge that isn't just the environment

I mean, people play Farming Simulator and I the only thing less appealing to me is walking simulators... I can probably think of worse.... for instance
I'd play Farming Simulator over a bullet tosser every day. It's not like you have to do any farming. I just hire people, build food processing factories, play the markets, etc. It's more like Farm Management Sim for me.
Shame too many see this and think its fun
Meanwhile you play point and click RPGs. It's a shame you think those are fun.

Live and let live, boys. Other people can like different things and it doesn't harm you at all. This isn't actually pre-school. We just act like it is.

You may have missed my point. I wasn't having a go at Stardew Valley itself, I was saying its a farming game that makes it look like a fun job, not that it was a bad game. I have watched people play it before... it looks pretty good... I just don't feel need to play it myself. I watch people play games so I don't have to. Currently watching an Age of Wonders playthrough.
My uncle was a farmer all his life, that was enough for me to know I didn't want that job as I saw how he lived. They were never rich enough to hire people to do it for them, he did most of it himself. None of his children followed in his footsteps, they didn't want it either.

My mind is wondering what simulators haven't been made yet
that wasn't on my list of possibilities.

There is no simulator simulator...
