What’s the one game you never get tired of playing, and why does it keep pulling you back in?

I’m curious to know which games other players consider timeless. Some games stay fun no matter how many times we play them whether it’s because of the story, gameplay, community, or just the nostalgia. For me, that game is Shadow Fight 2, but I’d love to hear what games keep you hooked and why.

We need stickies that list the games as its a bit much to expect new people to read that thread and find what every one said.
For instance, my answer to this in that thread linked to a previous thread.

Answer is probably the same. Journey doesn't make as much sense as time goes on as less people playing it. Eventually its backdrop will be the only life in the game... blowing sand.
Probably need more time before i play Torchlight again, even though I haven't played it on this PC... its performance won't really benefit from it. Used to play old games on new PC to see difference but there comes a point there isn't a major change.

I have been a gamer since 1982 and a pc geek since 2002 so i dont need to tell you how much progress and changes i have seen over the years.

I have played 1,000's of games over the years in probably every genre that is out their.
My go to game of all time is Satisfactory . I lol when players say they are bored and yes we do need new content but i always find something to do and my current playthrough has over 5,000 hours on it. I dont use trucks and tractors as they are unreliable. I have 12 end to end railway tracks , for some reason i could not get my head round signals etc. What i do have though is a network of over 500 drone ports that collect and deliver goods to all areas of the world map.

One guy said .... you cant do that without a mod ..... i dont use mods.
I put drones ports at the end of my battery factories and they in turn deliver batteries to other rows of drones ports so they dont run out of power.

I have tried other games similar to satisfactory but for some reason they dont appeal to me. Some have small blocks that look like leggo bricks and its hard to tell what the machines are supposed to be. A lot of players seem to go for factorio and i am sorry guys but the top down view makes it look like it was made on a spectrum in 1982..... i did try the demo though ...

The one thing i hate about gaming is the word PLAY .... yes i know thats what we do but many years ago before gaming became more expectable as a hobby my workmates would jump around in front of me shouting bang pop your dead i'm not....... ha ha sad person you PLAY games

Lots of games could fit here, but I don't replay games all that much. There are always new games showing up that will be fun PLUS they are a new experience. Yeah, I would really enjoy playing through at least half of the games in my library all over again. Witcher 3 was my favorite RPG of all time. But playing that means not playing Elden Ring. I'm pretty sure I would enjoy another round of Elden Ring in a few years - but playing that means not having time to play Witcher 4.

For me, that game is Shadow Fight 2, but I’d love to hear what games keep you hooked and why.

Yea, i was gonna say i thought there was a thread about this too but i never answered apparently lol

So, to the question at hand. It usually changes, right now its Diablo 4, since its release, no matter how bad a season is or how many other more fun and enjoyable games have come out, i still always go back to that game and before Diablo 4 itd be Diablo 3 or 2 or Diablo 2 Resurrected. Ive always liked that series.

I keep getting pulled back because A. it was a childhood game i played, B. i like the grind and its set up (for the most) and its a casual game which i fall back on with a busy schedule of work, family and playing other games lol.

Im pretty sure my old answer would have been Destiny 2 because, up until roughly this time last year, i would keep going back to that game since its release in 2017 but i havent touched it since. Its a terrible terrible game now.

I'm not one to generally go back and do anything. I won't rewatch a film or tv series or re-read a book. I think it's just how my brain is wired and my memory works. Even with music I might find a new band and listen to their disocraphy for a while and then find another one.

However there are certain games that change with new seasons or have DLC that I will carry on playing.

My most played games are easily Euro Truck Simulator 2, American Truck Simulator and Path of Exile (1).
  1. ETS2 - 760 hours played on steam
  2. ATS - 498 hours played on steam
  3. PoE, way more but I've the GGG installer not the steam version.

Dungeons of naheulbeuk keepspulling me back. I keep think ill play something new and then ill just start that up and play another mission. Midnight suns is now doing the same thing.

I just keep playing the same thing till im done, tupically it takes me years to move on.. makes gaming way cheaper!

I have 3 that I always go back to.

1. Fall out Shelter

Do not even think it's possible to finish it but it's a brain sucking game. When I am bored or sitting waiting for someone or something. I pull out my phone or start it up on PC and just waste an hour or so on it.

2. Dragon age Origins.

The storyline and way everything unfolds just does it for me. When I have nothing to play, I start up origins.

3. 7 Days to Die

Yes, you can only kill so many Zombies before getting bored. So, I started spending time on base building. Most of my time spent on 7D2D is spend building or improving a base somewhere. The Zombies and missions are just there by accident.

I have played Fallout Shelter 3 or 4 times now too. It's a nice distraction, but the last time I played I gave up when I got to the point where you can start increasing your people's SPECIAL stats. Especially the last levels take way too long and it just isn't fun to rotate everyone to max all their stats. It doesn't help that the raids keep getting stronger as well, until you have deathclaws just rampaging through your entire base until they finally die.

LMAO know what you are saying. That is why I said that I do not think it is even possible to finish it. LMAO. But a nice brain sucker to waste some time

Seems there is a platinum for it on PS5 so in theory you can finish that one, not sure about other versions.
Mobile version is endless. You stop when you had enough.

As others have stated my answer is the same as the one in the thread Pifanjr linked to.

Open-world sandbox games are my favorites to revist. Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk, Minecraft, games like that. I also really enjoy actual sandbox games such as Garry's Mod and Teardown where I'm given the freedom to do whatever I feel like at the moment. These kinds of games I can always go back to if I'm unsure of what to play, though I haven't played much of either recently.

I have been contemplating doing a heavily modded RDR2 playthrough. I've never used mods in that game before besides a trainer mod which is basically a cheat menu. It was fun goofing around with it, but this time around I want mods that add to the realism and survival aspects of the game. That is also a good point as to why I enjoy revisting all those games I've listed, they all have amazing modding communities that can completely change the game and provide a new, unique experience.

3. 7 Days to Die
What do you think of the recent updates the game has gotten? I haven't played since slightly before 1.0 came out, but I see the review score is tanking and players seem to not like the new direction the game is going in. Apparently it's focusing on RPG mechanics a lot more now?

This might be of interest then. Rumors also say it might be a Fallout 3 remaster!:)

Knowing my luck with Oblivion Remastered I won't be able to play it for a while due to my PC being underpowered😭

But that game launched with a ton of bugs as Bethesda games always do (even though they didn't develop the remaster and most likely aren't developing the rumored FO3 remaster), so that means I can give it time to get some patches out. Bethesda always takes so long to update any of their games anyways...

Because of low computer spec's the highest I could go was 1.3(b) but would assume it has upgraded a lot since then (About a year since I got my last update.

in 3(b) there was several things I did not like. 1. You could not spawn anywhere at first game. Originally you could spawn anywhere on the map and the trader sequence just followed you around. 2. I hate the zombie trains. LMAO tried to find info on it on the inernet but found nothing. Try the following. Duck and dive the Zombies for a while. Get resources and do just Missions. Do not kill any Zombies on your way to or from a mission. 3rd Night after you started this go stand on your base's roof and watch. They come past your house in rivers. All it takes is for 1 of them to see you. This is not Bloodmoon this is something I cannot explain.

I got trapped in Bob's boar & corn farm by a Zombie train in daytime. Emptied all my ammo (And trust me I had several) etc just to stay alive and there is not much ammo around on this mission. Died trying to take the Big Zombie Boar (Radioactive boar, cannot remember it's name). So there are a few things that changed which removed some of the fun and obviously this list can carry on so lets not get me started on the Vulture's and other animals.

in 3(b) it is still fairly "Survival" but once you move past the first 4 traders, it is pretty much just n shoot and click game since if you stop anywhere you die.

EDIT: Version 1 (3b) is three updates after the final release.

I haven't played it much recently either. I really liked the survival and crafting aspects of it and always found the missions a bit strangely presented but did them for the rewards. It seems the devs have shifted focus more towards RPG mechanics and missions. I last played during Alpha 16 and according to a lot of Steam reviews and discussion posts that's what players recommend reverting back to. Just a quick glance at the reviews... they removed survival mechanics, clothing and more?? I'll have to play it again, it's been well over a year since I played, but I've known that longterm players are not happy with the current state of the game.

I'm almost certain I've experienced this many years ago before. It wasn't a bloodmoon but there were maybe 10-15 zombies outside my base, my friend and I just hid in fear throughout the night as it was too dark to fight them.

A lot has changed since Alpha 16. Maps, trader locations, new Zombies and this list goes on. The original trailer that everybody ran to to hide close to the bridge (One with the dog and gun and ammo bag) is now pretty much useless since it is metal and changing it to a base is not worth the effort. Soon as you hit any wall there you call the Zombies from all over. Easier to just build a base from scratch after the final release. I have always had luck with the "king of the hill" base and still using it. Just changed my trench system a bit when the zombies decided they can dig and jump (LMAO not sure what version they started digging and jumping, but they do now)

Yeah the good old hide we all do. LMAO!. A tip though that might help when you return. Build your base and place windows from your building blocks list. Upgrade the windows to bricks and bobs your uncle. They cannot see in since the game says it is a solid brick wall, but you can see out. Get a level action gun with a 4x scope early as possible and build some walkways around your roof. take them out from the roof.

I been playing 7d2d since forever (think alpha 11 is where I started. Was the free Steam version when 7D2D still tried to make a name) so if you need survival tips, I can write a full manual on it.

Restarted the other day (just to keep me busy and out of trouble) on day 34 and not died once............yet.

Base fairly ok, still need to finish my mine and back trenches.

If you return, good luck. A lot has changed since Alpha 16.

Adds Sacred 2 to list but only as its being remastered and released next month. I played it non stop for about 3 years but that was 12 or so years ago and its age and lack of support for new hardware was a barrier to me playing it a lot since... that could change.
Biggest barrier now is time and me forgetting most of the game.
