Hi again guys. This may seem like a stupid question, but does the Gen/Generation matter when it comes to SSDs over storage capacity? The 4TB SSD that came with my current laptop is Gen 3 I think, and I got another 4TB SSD about a year or 2 later, but not sure what Gen that one is. Both SSDs are NVMe. Help appreciated 🙂

Hi guys. When I put my 2nd 4TB SSD in a new laptop when I buy one, do I need to wipe the SSD beforehand, or would it be ok to wipe it once installed in the new laptop? Right now, I am looking at a possible laptop that has 2 m2 SSD slots. The 4TB SSD I would be installing in the new laptop mostly has games on it, the other 4TB I have installed in my current laptop has games as well as the W11 OS on it. Help appreciated 🙂

There should be no reason to wipe it either before or after installing it, unless you really want it completely empty again.

Hi guys. With the strange staticy noise coming from the power supply, and in turn my laptop, do you guys think there is a short in my laptop, or could it be the power supply? Also, I did notice that laptop battery wouldn't show as charging sometimes, even though laptop is plugged in. What do you guys think is going on? Help greatly appreciated 🙂

Whenever you have a new product that you plug into a wall outlet and it smokes or gets hot, ALWAYS test other outlets. It can happen, especially in older homes, apts, that the outlet contacts get corroded over time. I was at my friend's apt once and plugged his floor lamp into one of his outlets. The lamp immediately got hot and the bulb exploded. I told him to contact the building's maintenance people ASAP and have them check that outlet. Outlets when they get bad can be a fire hazard, so it's something your landlord if you have one should treat as an emergency.

If you own a home, all the more reason to replace outlets that go bad so you don't lose everything. You can buy common outlets at stores like Home Depot, and such stores also have little instruction manuals for free on how to wire them. Homeowners CAN also replace such things legally most places without inspection too. Since they replaced my friend's outlet, there haven't been any problems plugging things into that spot.
