Steam Spring Sale 2026

Personally, I think I'm skipping this sale. There are a couple of games on my wishlist that are only a couple of bucks each, but I still have Dave the Diver and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain to finish, after which I want to get back into Baldur's Gate 3 and I'm in the process of setting up at least one Archipelago game. I don't think I'll have time for anything else until the Summer Sale at least.

I've been on a bit of a tear lately as far as buying stuff goes. I've picked up Master Chief Collection (never played Halo before) and The Division 2 over the past month or so. Only put a little bit of time into The Division so far, so I shouldn't be picking more stuff up; that said...

Today I bought:

Command & Conquer Ultimate Collection - Had my eye on this for awhile, because I want to play Red Alert 2, a game I never actually played.

Mirrors Edge + Mirrors Edge Catalyst - I own the original game on the EA App, but I've been wanting to migrate that over to Steam for awhile, just because I never actually use the EA App. Plus it'll make it easier to play on Steam Deck, theoretically.

Retro Rewind - Think it was @neogunhero that mentioned it the other day and then I saw it mentioned again on the PCG front page, so I tried the demo last night and was really enjoying my time with it. I reached the end of the demo and was left wanting more, so I dropped the $15 on it.

I will hopefully not be spending anymore.

I'm getting real close to near-retirement (so, like, maybe 12hrs of work per week). My previous understanding of how much gaming I'll do per quarter is going out the window! Star Wars: Outlaws is at a good price, but I really don't need more Star Wars. Judgement is tempting. Metal Gear Solid Delta is a good pri... oh! It's slightly cheaper if you get it with MGS3, or MGS2, or MGS Master Collection!?

Decisions decisions...

Jeez, OK, the Metal Gear Games are:
  1. Metal Gear
  2. Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
  3. Metal Gear Solid
  4. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
  5. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
  6. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
  7. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (PS Portable game, remastered for PS3 and XBox 360)
  8. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, which is a short prequel for...
  9. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
That's not EVEN going into remakes and spin-offs and such.

In time order:
  • 1964 Snake Eater (#5 above)
  • 1974 Peace Walker (7)
  • 1975 Ground Zeroes (8)
  • 1984 The Phantom Pain (9)
  • 1995 Metal Gear (1)
  • 1999 Solid Snake (2)
  • 2005 Metal Gear Solid (3)
  • 2007-2009 Sons of Liberty (4)
  • 2014 Guns of the Patriots (6)
And the recent(ish) games coming on PC

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection 1 has Games 1-5 in the first list. You can buy them all in one big bundle or get the games individually (Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake are sold together). These are HD'ed up and made to work with PCs but are pretty much the original games.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection 2 is not out yet, but it will have Guns of the Patriots, Peace Walker, and Ghost of Babel. The latter is not part of the main series' continuity but was made for the Game Boy Color.

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater is a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Metal Gear Fragile is better known as Death Stranding. 😉

Now I'm going to go to bed and figure out what I just wrote means tomorrow.
