PC says I have only 1 core processor I have 6

So I wanted to play the prototype games bcuz I used to play them all the time, but for some reason on PC theres this bug that crashes the game so to fix it i just had to turn my number of processors from 1 to 4 which it let me do no problem. Played for a few hours and went to launch Call of Duty without switching it back to 1. Heres where the problem starts, COD started running like **** and so i figured what I had to do was out the processor count to 1 again like it was before i played prototype. So I set it back restart my pc and then my problem gets worse. my whole computer starts running like garbage It says my cpu is at 100 percent, with nothing running mind you, I couldnt run csgo AT ALL the frame rate was like 10 and when I went to go see if I had to turn on 4 processors again It says I only have 1 and since my computer is not running good at all.. I didnt have a problem until I changed it to 4 and then back to 1 to play cod. Im desperate for any sort of help... im not made of money and It took me awhile to save for this as im usually trying to support my family, ETC... I dont have thousands of dollars to replace so im hoping for a simple fix..

Bit late now, but probably didn't need to fiddle with core counts to play Prototype, 1 or 2. It's not a requirement to run those games.

What is the full spec of your system?

What are you using to disable and re-enable cores?
