A tank!? Are you playing with mods??

Yup! Battletech Advanced 3062.

It expands things pretty dramatically. You can drop more than a Lance (so far, up to 3 Lances for me), you can use tanks and other vehicles, VTOLs and Battle Armor, as well as adding heaps more mechs. Also other armor types, engine sizes, weapons, etc. It's the closest thing you can get to playing the tabletop game.

@neogunhero I don't think you can do it through the Steam Website, but through the Steam App you can make your own dynamic collection, choose all the games you own and then sort by last played.
I'll definitely have to check that out, thanks!

I wanted to squeeze in a bit of BALLxPIT on my lunch break but I've been battling Bluetooth issues again. The BT on my motherboard sucks, it's dying as it's a 7 year old mobo, so I bought a USB adapter to replace it. That worked for a while but the issues came up again.

I think I solved it though, in device manager under the View tab there is a section for Devices by Driver, and I had to fully uninstall the driver that the mobo BT module was using. Just uninstalling the device doesn't do anything, and even under the "try to uninstall driver" checkbox clearly states that it will most likely not work. Manually doing it however seemed to obliterate the mobo BT drivers out of my system, and the USB adapter is working perfectly now. What a headache!

@neogunhero I don't think you can do it through the Steam Website, but through the Steam App you can make your own dynamic collection, choose all the games you own and then sort by last played. Then you will find recent games played this year and earlier. I did not find any option to include games that were uninstalled before making the list, but there could also be an option for that, or perhaps it is just the month you make the list in which those uninstalled games are not included.
I'm probably not understanding something here, maybe I set my whole library up as a collection at some point. I pretty much always have it set up to show all games either as last played where it lists the date up to 15 years ago or whatever or most played.

Maybe on the Steam app, I haven't tried it yet, I'm at work lol. Looking on the Steam website there isn't a way to do it. On your profile if you go to Recently Played, it only shows a list of the previous month, but also with that it's in a random order. What I want is a constant list of every game I've launched on Steam this year, sorted by last played.

Ahh never really use the website. Ive booted 65 games this year apparently, thats probably too much.

That could be the reason why you're seeing it easily. Long ago I made collections of genres for my games to organize them better, so they're all sorted into different categories. I'd have to make a new collection with all games then from there sort by last played. Viewing it directly from your profile on the website or app doesn't give you that same list, it must be done direct from your library I'm guessing.

No, you are correct. I checked again and while you can do it trough one of these collection, when you show all games as you mention, it also shows what @neogunhero is looking for, so definitely the fastest and easiest way;) It is also good because you can also see the games you have uninstalled.

Playing yakuza 5 for the last few days and i'm having a blast as i think its a massive improvement/departure from the previous games. For now, i'm playing as kazuma in a different city that isn't okinawa, kamurocho or osaka, yet. I've come across some new significant mini games that i like a lot. The pick of the bunch is easily the taxi service, strangely compelling as i drive people to their destinations, being mindful of the time, safety and the chatty people.

But on top of that there is a racing game injected into it. Race along the highways to compete against a evil no good bunch of punks. hell, you can even customize your taxi tune it up for extra boosts, decals, colour etc. not entirely feature rich, you can't customize lights, interior, windows etc etc but its a nice distraction to bling my taxi with such tasteless designs that only a serious badass would dare to drive in them.

That said, i do have some issues with the taxi game, The first is that whoever configured the traffic lights/ crossing electrics should be shot. The game has a horrible tendency to ask you to stop at traffic lights and turn left/right on people walking the crosswalk. That's right, the game tries to bait you into driving into people when they have right of way. its not helped that the AI pedestrians sometimes have a deathwish as they will happily cross over the zebra Crossing and run underneath your wheels sometimes. Strangely, the game doesn't penalize you for driving when the crossing is green. in fact a possible strat is to inch foward enough to make the civillians run across as oppose to walking slowly.

The bigger problem is that its partially or heavily luck based. You're on the clock and sometimes you get lucky and no one is around or the lights are green. other times you get caught up in traffic or stopped at redlights for too long. You can run them, but that can cost time so becareful there. But on one mission i had to follow a car and i failed within the first 10 seconds as it sped past the first zebra crossing and i got bogged down by a whole load of people crossing. BS.

Third - this is more speculation - The AI cheats during race games. i could be flat out speed, miles ahead and the AI somehow comes back and over takes me. Granted, i'm in a taxi, but still.

There are a few ui issues but nothing major. it would be nice to see how difficult a taxi job is BEFORE i take the job. whilst it breaks the jobs down into several main caterogies, it doesn't always say which one is regular taxi missions or ones where you just talk to the customer without selecting them.

outside of the taxi mini game? the arcades machines appear to have some DECENT games on them. In this case virtual fighter and that drum beating game (name eludes me atm). i did do a few side missions and once again trivia was on the table. Just as expected i was absolutely hopeless when it came to math, but general knowledge was on point. Or i was lucky.

So overall, very, very entertained. right now here is how i rank the yakuza's i've played:

1. Yakuza 2 kiwami
2. yakuza 5
3. yakuza 4
4. yakuza 3

I played some more Cyberpunk 2077. I got a call in-game where someone asked for my help. I debated going immediately or just doing some side quests, as I figured that the quest would be waiting for me until I was ready.

I was already on my way to a side quest when I decided to look up if there are any time-sensitive quests in this game, just to be sure. The quest I just got was the first example given of one of the few time-sensitive quests in the game, so I'm happy I decided to check!

So, I fought some undead up in the north. Two of them were on the start of a broken bridge, shooting crossbows at me. I got up there and finished them off and, with nothing else trying to kill me, I went to take a peek over the bridge. Nice view and... hey! Silly game has me floating just above the end of the bridge!? The end of the bridge dips down a little, and I go closer to the edge. I keep at the same level while the bridge goes down maybe half a foot!? Hmmm!

I toss a glowing, colored rock over the edge. It doesn't fall but just floats there! I walk over the edge and, yep, it seems to be an invisible bridge! But where does it go? I take out my little telescope and look. Hmmm, doesn't seem to be anything there, so I put away the scope.... AAAAHHHH!!

I keep putting away the scope by using the dodge button - which makes me jump backward, which puts me over the edge. You Died.

Fine, I go back around, kill a few skeleton things again, and go back. I pick off my runes that are floating in mid-air and start travelling along the bridge - assuming it's going straight. I get far along, then fall off. I didn't go quite straight enough.

Try again and this time there are a couple of skulls on the bridge to help mark it. I make it to the other end easily, and find myself facing a big castle wall?? I drop stones around the edges - they fall down into the canyon beneath me - so no invisible platform. The wall isn't an illusion. I don't know how you get through the thing. Maybe you're supposed to come the other direction, jumping off the wall onto the invisible bridge? But then you could just fast-travel? Oh well, I'll probably find out later.

I appreciate all the thanks for the affiliate! The guidelines were getting 65 followers, an average of 5 people per stream and my uptime. Ive had this channel for quite a while but ive been on/off streaming for a long time so its nice to hit that goal.

Congrats! Whats your channel? I'll give you a follow if it helps.

View: https://www.twitch.tv/dxchasee

id appreciate that. It does help. Thank You! Mind the channel trailer lol. I state i dont have a set schedule so, atm, my up times are varied.

Congratulations! The idea of playing games for money sounds nice, but the idea of being entertaining to a large audience for money sounds horrendous to me.

Thanks! Lol, i havent had a bunch of viewers at one time and idk how id handle it in the future if i get there to be completely honest. One of my latest streams shows me just dieing to a boss for almost 2 hours lol but i had 1 or 2 people chatting saying it was about the stream more so than me beating the boss.

So what does that mean? You'll be getting paid to stream now? That's a career I should get into, if I had any personality...

Yea, more or less, im able to have users subscribe to my channel and i get paid through those at the end of each month. Ive just been telling people to use their Amazon Prime monthly free sub on my channel so they dont have to pay the 5.99 or whatever the amount is for monthly subs lol

As for gaming i played a bit more of Outerworlds 2. If you are thinking of playing, i suggest picking the perk "Dumb" when it comes to choosing a debuff for yourself. It provides funny dialogue options and is actually more useful than the other ailments.

I noticed that the game is graphic-heavy. I was only getting roughly 60-70 fps using quality DLSS with a 4080super at 4k and only gaining a few frames when adjusting from quality to performance. Maybe its just me but i feel i should be getting higher frames.

it seems fun so far, definitely one of Obsidians better games. The wacky aesthetic is fine enough but the voice acting is spot on.

I'm still patiently waiting to get BF6. I keep reading about it and seeing videos on it and it's so tempting but I want to wait for some more maps and some of the bigger player complaints to get address. Also, I really want naval warfare, that was such a highlight on BF4 for me. Once they get some larger maps and maybe more air and naval warfare focused maps, I'll pick it up on sale.

Apart from that, my wife and I tried to find some games we can play together. I moved the PC to the bedroom again and each time I do, it makes me want a mATX build so bad. I could buy a new mobo, PSU and case for around $150 and just move the CPU, GPU and RAM to it, but it's kind of a Ship of Theseus type of situation, I should just wait and save to get a brand new build. But if I did move my current stuff to an mATX case, I could also salvage my old mobo, old Ryzen 1600X and RAM, get a really cheap GPU and have a very low budget gaming PC to either sell or use as like a HTPC, or buy a new graphics card for my main machine and move the old one to the HTPC, gah this keeps rattling in my brain. I'm constantly thinking of stuff like this but never commit because it really is a waste of money when my rig works perfectly fine, just hate lugging it around.

Anyways we started playing Gone Home. My wife loved it years ago, but these days its quite boring. You really need to be in the mood to read countless handwritten letters and correspondence to piece together a mystery. One modern feature that could be hugely useful in this game is the ability to change handwritten text to computer text for readability, especially on the TV 15 feet away they are so hard to read. We put it down after 30 minutes. So instead, we're going to try Little Nightmares tonight. It recently had an enhanced edition update so now is a good time to jump in with improved graphics. We really like games like Limbo and Inside so this will be quite similar to play together, fixed camera platformer with a whimsical horror aesthetic. I'm also considering picking up the new version of Stanley Parable on sale, that would be entertaining to play together.

My system has been a Ship of Theseus the whole time, I sell the 'old' parts to go towards the next upgrade. That way I dont need to pay out multi thousands at a time and my system never really struggles with any new game, let alone falls below minimum requirements. Think of it like a subscriprion.

Been thinking about building a general use system for my kid out of my old parts over the next few years instead though. Its kind of exciting but also then I start to think that shes going to have to be let loose on the internet at some point and thats kind of scary.

Come on, man! Short players' complaints matter, too! ;)
Games really need better short-people representation. Why is everyone the same size in every game?

Same here, in the 7 years I've had this rig, only my mobo, PSU and case are the same, though I've been using my GPU for 6 years. I reckon if I just upgrade the GPU I can get another few years out of this rig.

Ah, I got confused because you mentioned building from scratch there, now you say that I think I remmeber you talking about upgrading CPU a while ago. Get a GPU then, Black Friday coming up!

What I was saying earlier is that I kind of want to move my current hardware to a mATX or ITX build, just so that it would be easier when lugging it around the house. That would require a new case, PSU and mobo, the three things I haven't changed in my current build, so that to me seems a bit pointless. It would be very nice to have a tiny box instead of a mid sized tower, but maybe I should wait to do that with a brand new build. I can always get a new GPU now and transfer that to a new AM5 build in the future.

Out of curiosity, why a new PSU? mATX and ITX both fit a regular old PSU without a problem.

And I know you don't want to spend money, but you could also pick-up some cheap used hardware on eBay just to experiment with. But I'm a weirdo and love using old hardware for random stuff around the house.

Also, this case is pretty great. Kind of a pain when you need to do something in it, as it means tearing everything down, but I love the size. I have an i7-7700 and 6650 XT in mine; fits great in my TV cabinet.

Been pretty much just playing Advance Wars on GBA lately. I really would like to play some more Cultic, but I've been having wrist issues (including a cyst, apparently) the past few days, so I haven't really wanted to game on my PC or laptop, because it just gives me some pain. Maybe I should try to get better with my Steam Controller, though I'm trying to not use my hurt hand all that much.

Makes sense. Ive seen cases with handles around although Im sure that doesnt help. FWIW GPU is a big one but its what I would go for next in your situation, the price of them these days is pretty damn depressing though, and Nvidia skimping on the VRAM on mid range cards doesnt seem like it will go away.

I did just read that there are 3GB GDDR7 chips being made now which might mean they can expand the VRAM amounts on the 5000 super cards with the same bus width.

I have a fear my PSU is getting old and something may happen to it. It's a EVGA brand 80+ Bronze certified PSU so that doesn't scare me, it's just the age of it. It's been going hard for 7 years, not constantly as I turn my PC off every night, but still the age makes me worried it will kick the bucket soon.

The only thing I feel against buying used would be a GPU, and I don't really have a valid reason why. Motherboard, CPU, RAM, all good to use second hand. GPUs though, I'm afraid whoever owned it last put it through its paces and stress tested the hell out of it. This could have easily been done to any other component though, but for whatever reason I have hesitation specifically towards used GPUs.

Love Silverstone cases. To me they sort of retain a mid 2000s look, apart from that one case they released this year that did that on purpose. I much prefer that sort of aesthetic than what's popular these days, specifically the fishtank cases. I do like the wood accents in cases trend but I think that's starting to go out of style now. If I ever build a real dedicated HTPC I'd want a Silverstone case with a 5.25in disk bay to throw a Bluetooth reader in there.

I can't find my old receipt for my RTX 2060 unfortunately, but I think I paid around $300 for it brand new in 2019. With that being said, low-mid tier GPUs like the RX 9060 XT and RTX 5060 Ti are pretty competitively priced compared to what I paid for my card. 9060 XT can be found for under $400 and there are a few 5060 Ti SKUs for around MSRP. Higher end cards such as RX 9070 XT and the RTX 5070 and above are where the pricing is really bad. Speaking of which.. why hasn't AMD released anything above the 9070 XT yet?

They arent releasing anything higher end, they kind of ceded that market to Nvidia this time around. If you look at the amount of power theyre using it might be a clue as to why.

Ill forever be upset that there was only one generation where a top end card fell withing my price range before they went bananas. Youre basically right. Nothing wrong with those cards and they are relatively reasonable considering they can play anything at decent settings. AMD just prices against Nvidia because their market share is so small, so I dont blame them as much for the situation.

AMD not being more aggressive in the higher end market is a big frustrating. They're beating Nvidia in prices while being very comparable in most performance scenarios (obviously RT is their weakpoint), if they could make a 5080 competitor at a few hundred dollars cheaper, people would go nuts over them.

I actually just got a very huge commission bonus from work... RX 9060 XT sitting in my Best Buy shopping cart... hmmmmmmmm

I've got PSU's (quality ones, I should note) pushing 10+ years at this point, so I wouldn't stress too much to be honest.

And FWIW, I've had good luck with used GPU's. My 6650XT is used and doing awesome and I also have a 1070 Ti ran great while I was using it. It's currently in a very old machine, not being used, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it. This one I did get for free and it appears that someone spilled something on it, as the backplane of the card is all goopy; tried to clean it up to no avail, but it still works great.

Here's a video from a few years ago detailing why they're not bad deals.

That said, I'm in a different position than you. I have no real income, so I gotta make due with what I've got and my budget is considerably lower, so used just tends to be my go-to. But I'm also just kind of a freak and like all things second hand.

Speaking of graphic cards, i think its important to read this:

it seems like Radeon has stopped updating, providing drivers for older radeon cards which isn't great. especially when Geforce drivers still work with old cards etc. So if your card is slightly too old, no driver support. it kinda reminds me of my first experience with a radeon card .

i would consider maybe a 4070 Super but damn it, looking on ebay they go for prices that i might as well go for a 5070 instead.
