Well, playing a little more, I see where some of the money/developers went on Anno 1800. There's a lot of story and voice acting, etc. There's none of that in Kingdoms Reborn. And for the story, they've built a little bit of London. Also, the little people here and there are really well done and expertly animated, although I think Kingdoms Reborn does a decent job of that, just not on this level.

The thing is, I'm not sure all this is making the game better. I'm sure it helps a lot of people become immersed, though.

The VA is definitely a little much. I could stand for a lot less VA in many of my games, as I feel like it limits me to only playing them when I can hear and pay attention, which is only late at night when I don't want to pay attention...

I’ve been looking to get a new game sometime before the end of the year. Something bigger than I usually buy. Combing through my wishlist which is over 800+ games strong, I started to look at Dying Light 2. I’m a huge fan of the first, but I have heard many complaints about the sequel. Seems like a lot of the main issues have since been fixed, current community reviews sits at 79% with over 132,000 reviews. However, I see that the game has a ton of cosmetic DLC, and as far as I can tell there is no bundle of the game yet that includes everything in one package. For most people that probably isn’t an issue, as long as you get the game and the DLC with actual gameplay content, but for me I want everything all together when I finally get to play it. That’s why I waited so long to play Watch Dogs 2, I finally bought the Ultimate Edition on sale a few years after release. This isn’t the case with every game, but especially for games I’ve waited years to play after they’ve launched, I want to have every bit of content possible. I suppose I’ll wait another year or two until they inevitably release an Ultimate Edition for Dying Light 2.
If you're looking for something zombie oriented, I love State of Decay 2 to pieces. I've only played 52-hours of it, but it's a game I generally think about a lot and keep installed, going back to here and there. It's a bit of a "theme park sandbox", if that makes sense. Minimal story, mostly just preparing for expeditions to find things to make your community more sustainable.

@Johnway That first screenshot hit straight into the Blood game nostalgia:)

yeah the resources i had on hand just suited a library/study i had hoped for more auger zenith style maps, but i don't think the flats/textures are there. i'll probably need to pinch them from the wad or make my own.

I think it looks quite good. Even if a player only sees each section for only a few seconds, if every section is that detailed the players will definitely notice it.

i had been studying the top mappers designs where they not only played good and looked good and surprisingly, they weren't all that complex, certainly very simple and not exactly detailed. Most of them are just good placement of textures, some effects and added a bit of verticality etc. i personally went more of a doom cute route to things and its just eats up a lot of time doing all the detailing. my garden for example was going to be all sorts of things, but i didn't have the resources and the amount of time i spent i could have knocked out more rooms or focused on gameplay. its not helped that when it comes to artistic things my progress is practically glacial.

Was just tossing stuff against the wall and seeing if it stuck. I don't even own Doom 1, but this is something I would do, but no one else here seems interested, except for Johnway, in level design or game-making, so I doubt they would put the effort into it. Would be fun for me, though. We could put all our levels together into one bigger one.

if it helps, try RAMP as that welcomes all mappers from all levels and it was partly my inspiration to go into mapping in the first place. I was hoping to learn and prepare a map for ramp2025, but after nearly 7 hours and probably a couple more hours watching youtube videos and making notes, i'm not exactly ready. its a bit naive for me to think i could learn to make a fancy map with bells and whistles in the amount of time. Its probably going to be more like ramp 2027 if i put my mind to things.

So you aren't going to buy it so long as you have to pay extra for the chicken suit?
When you put it that way, you aren’t wrong :ROFLMAO: I’d feel naked if I didn’t have every single piece of cosmetic clothing in a first person game!

That’s one game that I have tried, repeatedly, over and over throughout the years to get into but never could. It was probably the very first game so played on Game Pass maybe back in 2018-2019, and since then every year or so I will try it out again. I think my main issue is that I really hate replaying the intro sequence of games, and I have been through SoD2’s intro maybe 4-5 times by now. Then after a few hours, I get lost or bored. I really want to give it another shot, especially since they’re releasing the final update soon that should bring a massive amount of bug fixes/QoL updates, but I’ll wait a bit longer before doing so. I have a friend who’s now super into it and he keeps trying to get me to play with me.

Well, it's co-op, too. You could always invite me in and put on a fashion show. I've grown to enjoy those through the years with my kids. Don't forget mods, too. Just don't wear this, https://www.nexusmods.com/dyinglight2/mods/678, because it will give me nightmares.

finished level 16. Didn't really notice a problem with the icons outside of the ones webbed

Sounds like you're not playing the first one? That's where I had the icon problem—I don't recall any webs until game #2.

you are probably playing a lot faster than I am

I'll bet slower, I play the Limited Moves mode which allows for a bit of thought and has no time constraint or benefit.

I own the first, and my note says it takes a lot of direction from Far Cry—so I guess I should play it sometime

Halloween present :)

Nope, it's the first one. "The Book of Spells". The others are numbered 2 to 5.

I'm also playing with limited moves, but it still tells me how long I took to finish. Doesn't seem to be counted for anything, though, and I'm not paying any attention to it. Actually, I'm not really paying attention to scoring other than the 1 to 3 stars.

I played Zen pinball on the PlayStation 3... then on the 4. I have resisted it on PC.
They were fun games.

I have my reasons for not buying it again. I don't feel its really the same... but I won't hold others back. Cheaper than the real thing, and much less space consuming.... can play as many as you like without needing to own them all physically. Some would be hard to get for a reasonable price, or at all.

Not much space saving for how I play them but otherwise I agree lol.

I played a bunch more of the Blightfall modpack for Minecraft today. I finally found a large cave system, which makes finding ores a lot easier, even if the entire thing is filled with taint.

I spent pretty much the entire evening just clearing taint from this cave system. I just kept finding more tunnels.

Clearing taint isn't particularly exciting, but it's very rewarding to see the end result. I suppose its the same kind of feeling games like PowerWash Simulator are built around. Plus I have a ton of resources now.

I just need to find my Ethereal Blooms again. They help clear taint, but they're now spread all over the cave system and I can't make more (yet).

probably difficult to get the ball stuck between glass and an element in a purely digital table. Or lose the ball.

I just like real tables... not that I would be able to find any now. Used to be one at the local pub but I haven't been there in over 25 years so probably not there now. It would be hard to say.
