New HP OMEN 35L not booting – power on but no display / USB

Hi,

I received my HP OMEN 35L Gaming Desktop GT17-0000in today after a 4-week delivery period. Unfortunately, I’m facing an issue right out of the box.
When I try to power on the system:
- The power button light turns on.
- There is no display signal on the monitor.
- USB ports are not powered (mouse and keyboard do not turn on).

- On startup, the fans spin at moderate speed, then after about 4 seconds the speed reduces, but they continue spinning.

- The graphics card logo/light turns on
However, the system does not boot or show anything on the screen.

Has anyone faced a similar issue with a new OMEN desktop? Any troubleshooting steps or suggestions would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your new system. Since it was shipped and things can happen during shipping, you'll want to start with the basics:

1. Check RAM seating
  • Power off and unplug the system
  • Open the side panel
  • Remove and firmly reseat all RAM sticks until you hear a click on both sides
  • Try booting with only one RAM stick in different slots
2. Verify monitor connection
  • Ensure your monitor cable is plugged into the graphics card ports (not the motherboard)
  • Try a different cable or port on the GPU if available
  • Test the monitor with another device to confirm it works
3. Check power connections
  • Open the case and verify:
    • 24-pin motherboard power connector is fully seated
    • 8-pin (or 4+4 pin) CPU power connector at the top of the motherboard is secure
    • GPU power cables are fully connected (usually 6-pin or 8-pin connectors)
4. Clear CMOS
  • Locate the CMOS battery (coin-sized) on the motherboard
  • Remove it for 30 seconds, then reinstall
  • Or use the CMOS jumper/button if available
5. Try minimal boot
  • Disconnect all unnecessary peripherals
  • Remove any extra hardware you might have installed
  • Keep only: CPU, one RAM stick, GPU, power supply
If you're still having issues after that, it's probably best to reach out to HP or whoever holds the warranty.
