Question New gaming laptop for 1000 USD or upgrade current Desktop

Hi, im debating wether its cheaper and better to buy a gaming laptop for 1000 usd or upgrade my current PC, whose specs are:

Intel core I5 7400, 3.00 GHz
8 gb RAM 1063 hz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 3 GB
Motherboard MSI H110M pro-vh plus
1 TB HDD (not ssd)

I don't know of any decent gaming laptops for $1000. With that said the prices of graphics cards are insanely expensive atm due to the chip shortage along with the internet mining craze. I'd upgrade your desktop while keeping your current gpu and replace said gpu at a later date when you get more money.

Echoing @Why_Me my guess is your current PC is roughly as good as a laptop you'd get for $1K.

Spend on a SSD and double your RAM, that'll give your current system a nice 'pop'

Another question for that, is do you plan to travel or need to be mobile? If you know you will have good internet and don't mind the subscription GeForce Now is a real option. I have been using it for nearly 2 years (mostly while it was in beta) it has improved significantly in that time. The last time I tried it was in a little airbnb out in the country with 10mbps internet, worked fantastically, You can always give it a go for free before you actually subscribe.

Edit: Do be sure to look at the compatible list of games if you give a a go. Not all games are on it, but many are and it gets updated regularly.

Im a newbie. What type of 16 GB RAM do you think is the best? Is this ok o are is there faster ram:
Ram DDR4 16GB 2666Mhz PC4-21300 Crucial

Also, considering my type of motherboard, can i keep my current HDD and add a SSD? Is this one ok?:
SSD Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5'' 7mm CT1000MX500SSD1

Three more questions:
1) How can i transfer my windows to the ssd easily?
2) I have a USB wifi adapter, can i add something to the motherboard?
3) If i install the 16 gb, i should remote the 8 gb that i have to avoid bottle neck?

I can't quite see how many sata ports you have open. Also, do not mix and match RAM, you will either want another stock of the exact same kind, or two (or 1) sticks to bring it up to 16gb of RAM

@Madmann is correct about the RAM, it can cause problems although a lot of the time it might be O.K. But bear in mind you cannot use more than 2133mhz RAM with that motherboard. So dont go buying anything to expensive as it will default to that speed anyway.

As others have said a $1000 "gaming" laptop won't be much of a real gaming system. Laptops have to consider heat and power envelopes in their design, so I really don't think you'll find one that is both worth the hassle and will give you a better gaming experience than your current system.

My first suggestion is get a good SSD. Secondly while 8GB RAM is okay it's fast becoming the minimum you want, 16GB is better for a gaming system. Your CPU is decent-ish, but your GPU is entry level at best. I'd suggest a 3060 or 3060ti, if you can get one at MSRP or close to it. Problem is you haven't listed your PSU which I would think is most likely a low tiered one. I'd suggest getting a 1st or 2nd tier 750watt one, I suggest Seasonic as it's been my go to one for a long time now. You should be able to get all that for under a 1,000 US easily. So if you're using the stock CPU cooler you might want to consider upgrading that as well.
