Necromunda: Hired Gun

A Doom style 40K game. If you are a Warhammer fan i recommend checking it out. Its only ~30 dollars. It has Dishonored style executions, wall running, grapple gun, bolter gun (of course) and a dog! Have been having a blast. It has its problems and jank and is a warhammer game and for any fan can attest, they aren't always the greatest, but its overall a solid frantic FPS game and its not priced bad at all. Just figured id make a thread for its awareness lol, it had a very small PR campaign.

This fell onto my radar a couple months ago and I've been waiting patiently for reviews to roll in. The concept looks great and I like the 40k universe, but... 40k games are kind of a crap shoot. Games Workshop is dishes out that IP like a Saudi prince drops bills at a strip club. It's sitting at "Mostly Positive" on steam right now which is a good sign in my eyes.

It was at mixed for the first day or two, which was ok to me, what really gets me is the price point. Its 33 bucks on steam but i was able to get it for 27 something through humble bundle discounts. So i think that does have some influence over the reviews because it is pretty meaty even if it has some shortfalls and being a 40k game, the campaign is not too long but theres replayability in upping the difficulty, it gets pretty tough. The studio seems to be taking feedback seriously and are pushing out a patch here soon but i havent ran into too many issues outside of sounds being weird but that doesnt take much away from me personally.

I will probably check it out. Few Warhammer games have been able to live up to the gold standard that Relic has set but that has not stopped me from trying every 40 k game I can get my hands on.

You say that like those standards still exist. Even Relic can't follow those standards cuz they died with THQ.

With that said, I do think that Hired Gun is definitely one of the better 40K games out there, albeit with some egregious annoyances (Mission 8 container escorting, Mission 9 boss). Still wish PlatinumGames, Inc. would do what they do best but in the 40K universe, so as to create a new set of standards similar to what existed when THQ was still around.
