Yea I'm sure theres ways and means, but if some things dont work and others are not as good as native then ARM based machines better be cheaper. Looking at Rosetta it seems it also doesnt work for everything either.

As I said before, I'm interested in the modularity of a gaming machine. I want to replace things piece by piece as and when needed. If they provide that with ARM parts that work universally and just as well or better than currently then I'd be happy. If they take that away I'll be disappointed, but in the end if its the only way to play games it'll just have to be that way.
I think everyone probably just wishes regular pc tech would just get a lot better. Based on the article the other day about a start-up company in the US, that may actually happen. But I didn't read it carefully enough, and I'm not sure what they are doing fits into x86 or not. Probably not. But it's exciting tech anyway.

Sorry to be so comically vague. I'll look for the actual story here in a little bit...

Among other things, like a personnel elevator that will be very useful, this update adds full controller support. While this is part of the preparation for launching on consoles, apparently it's pretty good news for people wanting to play on the Deck or other PC handhelds.

Honestly, I had no idea Satisfactory wasn't on consoles. They're going to have to add an extra vault at the headquarters for all the money. Kudos to them for staying focused on the EA PC version until 1.0. Some developers who don't launch across all platforms at once launch on PC and then you don't hear from them for 6 months to a year while they launch on consoles.

Not sure why but I’ve always been against using any third party overlays while gaming. I don’t like Afterburner being on screen at all times, I’ve tried other performance monitors but always found them too clunky. So I’ve been using Steam for FPS count and Nvidia for recording. Well now Steam takes care of everything for me! In addition to being my main game recording software, Steam has just been updated with an new overlay to give lots more performance info, just needs CPU temps then it will be perfect. I particularly like how it can show your real rendered frames and generated (DLSS/FSR/FG) frames.

I don't even use the Steam overlay 99% of the time. The main thing it's good for is to connect to a friend's game through Steam and I occasionally make a note or look something up in the browser so I don't have to alt-tab and risk the game crashing.

For me, the FPS counter is on in all games. It's small enough to not distract me at all. I haven't utilized the Notes feature yet, but I can see where that can be very handy. As for video recording, it’s rare when I want to make a little clip, but Steam’s recorder is so seamless and works flawlessly. You can even edit the clip in the overlay but I use another program for editing, I just record the video using Steam. Web browser is super handy as well for looking up guides, even if you can alt+tab a game I find the overlay browser to be quicker.

“Fine as a free-to-play time waster, but not more than that” perfectly describes my two hours I spent with this game. I may play a bit more here and there but it really is about as fine as fine goes, and I suppose for a free game that makes it easier to accept than one you pay money for. The portals are cool, though underutilized in some maps.

I try not to get too attached to the fps counter on my Deck and on my computers. I do have it on currently, but I find I start to obsess over it, versus just playing the game. When I turn it off, I usually stop noticing perceived performance dips like I do when I see the fps counter down.

I do like having the information though. I did just tweak KCD2 on my Deck enough to get a mostly stable 40fps.

Good for tweaking settings, but I've formed a bad habit over the years of keeping it on all the time. If I play a game on a different launcher, I figure out how to get it on. If I can't, I can use Nvidia's FPS counter. It's a bad habit also in the way that I can't play a game until I've tweaked the settings enough to get the best performance/visual balance for me. I will spend a good 20-30 minutes after starting a game constantly checking the FPS and if the number isn't high enough then off to the menus I go. It's sometimes annoying being this way:ROFLMAO:

That article shows nothing about what that clickbait title says lol.

Not sure if anyone here has been following this games drama. I can give a quick summary. Marathon WAS a futuristic FPS that released on MAC in the mid 90s. It was one of Bungies earliest games. It was pretty decent too for an FPS. Got nowhere near the fanfare as say Doom or something but still, a revival of that game would have been great to see. Its free on steam.

Fast forward to the terrible company that is Bungie in 2025 and they have taken everything about Marathon and threw it out the window for what? A pvp-only extraction shooter!! So you know how well thats been going....

Personally, they need to unrelease it and make it either an PVE game or a SP FPS game like it was. Anything they are thinking of improving the game will not make this dumpster fire any better if its not any of the above mentioned suggestions.

they are a Future website, so I wouldn't expect anything less.

Setting up 2 step authentication on any accounts that offer it is also a smart security step, as then the hackers also need your phone.
