Guys I've always had this confusion between these dual core and Quad core, So my question basically is that is Core 2 duo Dual core and is quad core core 2 quad?

Yes it's correct. 🙂 There were also a couple of Core 2 Solos in laptops.

I was going to say all of the Core 2 Extremes were quad cores but looks like there were a couple of those that were duals earlier on. Intel keeps product pages linked in the wiki there for a lot of their old processors.
