Question How to fix stuttering and drops?

I'm having serious FPS drops (lags) and stuttering in video games, making it unbearable to play. Despite having high-end components, my gaming experience is far from smooth and comfortable, and I'm at a loss for what to do next. Here's a detailed breakdown of the issue:

System Specifications:

The Issue:

  1. (Severe) FPS Drops:
    • My games (like Fn) can reach very high FPS (maybe up to +300), but they frequently drop to extremely low levels (as low as 4 FPS). This fluctuation is drastic and happens unpredictably, making it impossible to enjoy a game.
    • For example, in game, I can have a FPS limit of only 144, but it can suddenly drop to single digits.
  2. Stuttering & Delays:
    • The game stutters and freezes, especially noticeable when there are rapid actions, such as shooting. The screen and audio both freeze for about 1-2.4 seconds, which is incredibly driving me mad.

What I've Tried:

  • Reinstalling Drivers: I have reinstalled the latest drivers for my GPU, but the problem persists.
  • DirectX 12: I’m using DirectX 12 in game.
  • Settings Adjustments: I've adjusted various in-game settings and tried the lowest configurations, but doesn't resolve the issue.
  • Temperature Checks: All components are running within normal temperature ranges.

Details:

  • The issue occurs regardless of the game's graphics settings or resolution.
  • I have no background applications consuming significant resources during gameplay.
  • All components are relatively new and should be capable of handling the games I play.

Possible Causes?

  • I don'teven know at all, man. I mean, I'm uncertain whether this is a software issue, a gaming problem, or something else entirely. Could it be related to the PC or a specific thing I'm overlooking?

Need your help:

  • Has anyone else heard of similar issues with sudden FPS drops and stuttering despite having pretty good hardware?
  • What do I need to do to fix the problem?

Is this happening in online multiplayer games, offline single player, or both?
If multi, what's your internet connection profile?

How much free space is available on your OS disk and your games disk?

Internet Connection Profile

This issue happens in both online multiplayer and offline singleplayer games, but especially in multi.

Internet Connection:

51.7
Mbps download
37.5
Mbps upload
Latency: 15 ms
My Internet connection is very fast.
My Internet connection should be able to handle multiple devices streaming HD videos, video conferencing and gaming at the same time.

Disk Space

Here’s the breakdown of my disk space:

OS Disk (C):

  • Total Space: 1000 GB
  • Free Space: 202 GB
Games Disk (D):

  • Total Space: 400 GB
  • Free Space: 250 GB
Both disks have plenty of free space, well above what's needed for the OS and the games.

One thing I always ask. Is it a "newer" pc or older. If it's newer or older is it clean inside? Sometimes pc's ccan get dirty inside and so when ya play games they over heat and can cause those issues or crashing.

Is your drive a hard drive or ssd? Disk Defrag may help with asn HD.

Have ya tried a reformat? I hate to ask or do that.

Only other thing is maybe it's a parts issue. Maybe the Harddrive is wonky or there could be a compatibility issue between parts that are causing it? Like is all the ram the same. Same make or at least same speeds and timing? Parts compatibility can cause issues.

Also I know people monitor heat with software and crap, but that can even give bad readings. Feel the side of your pc when it's doing that. Feel on the case around where the CPU sits underneath it, the gpu, and the power supply. Even the ram area. I've had it said normal temps and they were not normal. Ended up my pc needed a cleaning.

Hope something helps or ya fix your pc issue. Sorry about your luck man.
