Probably an overkill

Here is a more modest build that would be great for gaming:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-13600K
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080
  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z790-E Gaming WiFi
  • Memory: Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) 6000 MHz CL36
  • Storage: Western Digital SSD WD Black SN850 1 TB
  • Power Supply: ASUS ROG Strix 850W Gold
  • Case: NZXT H510 Flow
  • Monitor: ASUS 27" IPS ROG Swift PG279QM

This build would be able to handle any game at max settings at 1440p resolution. It would also be good for streaming and other demanding tasks.

Unless you're doing productivity work for a living I would ditch that i9 for an i7 in a heartbeat. The i9 is a heat producing power hog. Something like this down below is ideal for gaming. Replace the 140mm rear exhaust fan that come with that case with the 140mm ARGB fan in this build. That 3-pk of 120mm fans goes inside the top of that case where an AIO would normally go. Add your gpu, Windows, monitor, etc ..

And you end up with something like this.

Welcome to the forum :)

What kind of games? Examples?

Huge difference depending on what you want to play—eg I'm doing fine with a i7-7 and 1060 :)
Hello and thanks!

I am currently playing Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield, Red Dead Redemption 2, Baldur's Gate 3 (to name a few).
I want to be able to play at 1440P maxed out settings.

I was going towards more the Ryzen 7 7800X3D instead of the i9-13900K but I have seen quite a lot of videos citing issues with them? I dont know if there are still those going around cause i would prefer to go that way.
Are ASUS's motherboard still a problem (even with the updated BIOS)?

Its been 8 years since my last build and really want to upgrade to a very high end gaming PC (as stated 1440P maxed out settings).

This would be my actual preferred build before watching those videos on ASUS+Ryzen 7 7800X3D

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D (4.2 GHz / 5.0 GHz)
ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-E GAMING WIFI or ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-E GAMING WIFI
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING OC 24G
Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) 6000 MHz CL36 - Black
Samsung SSD 990 PRO M.2 PCIe NVMe 2TB
ASUS ROG Thor 1000W Platinum II
NZXT H7 Flow RGB Black
ASUS 27" OLED ROG Swift PG27AQDM

thanks again for all you guys help!

Thank you very much!

I just wanted to know if the below would still work or are there still ongoing issues?

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D (4.2 GHz / 5.0 GHz)
ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-E GAMING WIFI or ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-E GAMING WIFI

I am running the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D with an NZXT Kraken Elite 240 on an ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-E GAMING WIFI with 32gigs of Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-6000 CL30 and a Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon™ RX 7900 XTX Vapor-X 24GB with 2 Crucial P5 Plus 2TB PCIe Gen4 3D Gaming SSD in a BeQuiet 500FX case and am completely happy with the setup.
In my opinion the x670 chipset is not needed on a gaming PC.
p.s. I updated the BIOS before building.
