if you have too much on there, it could become an obstruction during emergencies when you have to get up right now... I found that was bad enough when I had to take headphones off to leave my room. Now its easy with speakers... just hit spacebar to pause and get up.

It's basically just moving one thing--the lap desk--but over time the cables become an issue, and this would just be one more cable to have to unwind.

As far as emergencies go, I suppose it would be better with the soundbar since I wouldn't have to remove my headphones.

****

When I installed Steel Series Sonar, it disabled my Dolby Atmos. It took me a month to figure out how to undo that.

i only have two sound output devices on my PC now, and one is wrong.
Windows thinks I have:
  1. LG QHD - my monitor
  2. Realtek Digital Output - my speakers
One is wrong as the monitor has no speakers.

I guess if I clicked next it would take over... might just leave it as is

Does your monitor have an audio jack? Maybe that's what it means?

Now that my PC is paid for and hopefully finished now (lol) I can get back to buying headphones and the IEM I was going to buy next are back at top of the list. I should perhaps see if anything more appealing has been released in the last 6 months. I had been ignoring the entire scene until now

Unless it changes, its likely to be these

Speakers. Upgrade something you use daily vs sometimes.

Ever since I got the spdif cable to work I haven't thought about speakers.
Logitech ones easier to get to work effectively with subwoofer.
Other option is run them off the wiim but I had intended to use the Aune.

No Idea about the sig thing, you could ask @Lutfij to ask admin as I suspect you don't want the attention :)

Yeah I really don't care. I can see them now. Earlier they looked broken.

Good powered monitors will blow your mind vs those Logitechs. And most good speakers sound really good at lower volumes so you wouldn't have to have mom listening to Slayer. lol

You'd get a different sub obviously.

I prefer active speakers so I don't have to buy another amp.
Not made of money, Speaker Amp + speakers + sub sure cost more than the IEM I was buying.

For example,
the Kef Q3 Meta are $1300 just for the speakers - https://au.kef.com/products/q3-meta?variant=48589261439169
An amp that was suggested by others for those speakers is a Wiim Amp Pro which is another $700 here
shame Aune don't make power amps, just pre amps.Looks for alternatives
SMSL Raw HA1
Kef Sub (cheapest) is 1k - https://au.kef.com/products/kube-8-mie-subwoofer

No real good order to buy them in. Maybe Amp first but the headphone outs on the HA1 are so bad, they shouldn't exist
Not like I needed another headphone amp anyway.
That can wait until I get a desk, which is in turn waiting for replacement windows in my room. Might look at them next year.

My daughter wants a new gaming headset for her birthday. Despite what my bank account says, I haven't tried them all, but I guess I'll get her the Arctic Nova Pro. These are about the only gaming headsets I don't feel the need to switch out before I listen to music, and the microphone is very good.

Speakers and amp. Add a sub later if you even feel like you need to. I waited almost a year to add a sub to my Q350s. They have surprisingly good bass.

That or the A-S701 for an amp. I've got an R-S700 which is an older model not made anymore but it's basically an A-S701 amp with a tuner added to it. The 501 would be fine though. $2300 isn't cheap but it's a great price for a real hi-fi system. Then you can always add a sub later. You already have the Wiim.

Audeze Maxwell is roughly the same price and is better in pretty much every metric including comfort.
I would have to disagree based upon what I've read. I could go into great detail, but I've seen MANY reports stating that the microphone is terrible and that the ANC causes hissing and that the dongle picks up static no matter what USB port you use it in. I wouldn't spend 50 percent more to get a headset that so many people are having serious problems with.

They're both about $350 from what I see on Amazon. I've never used either but every review I see shows the Audeze better across the board. Especially the mic being mentioned as better.

The Steelseries mic sounds like crap in comparison.

How do you attach your PC to stereo to use headphones in games?

I assume I have to have a DAC between amp and PC, so perhaps the wiim can be the middle man.
SPDIF would probably be the easiest since I already use that on speakers.

Probably go
  1. PC
  2. Wiim
  3. Aune
  4. Amp
Aune has separate volume controls for Line out/Headphones, Wiim only has one volume setting.
Aune's DAC is likely better as well.
So makes sense to leave wiim on 100 and use Aune to control volume... at that stage anyway.
Line out volume could be maxed to let Yamaha run the speaker volumes. As long as I know Aune never accidentally run Arya at 100 I can live with that.

You already know answer but
  1. PC > Wiim via SPDIF
  2. Wiim > Aune via USB to maintain best quality audio out of Aune & feed its DAC
  3. Aune > Yamaha via Hart RCA cables.

Replacement windows in house and possibly a PC desk might happen before I buy any speakers.
Final location of audio gear is currently unknown.
PC isn't right next to Audio gear currently.
