Art Game Music that made you look at the game differently

This is an easy yet tough question (Had to think about it a bit) but have two that comes to mind.

1. Sacred 2, "Sacred worlds by Blind Guardian". You get the quest to retrieve an electric guitar (Think it just said guitar or had a name cannot remember) and you sit and watch the whole music video in game. Really made a difference for me. Played the game a few times just to get to there again. One thing watching the music video, completely different playing to that point and hearing the song. Almost brings a climax to the game at an unexpected point in the game. (Hope the link works)

2. Dragon Age inquisition "The dawn will come". After fighting Corypheus the first time and defeating him. You travel up the mountain looking for everyone (Or escaping whichever way you want to look at it). Just before you reach the camp you collapse, and you wake up (Again, seemed to be the in thing in DA3 that you wake up somewhere). Not long after that this video plays. Again, just listening to it does not do it justice, playing to there and living into your character suddenly brings the whole first part of the game together. When you eventually get to skyhold you sort off miss the first part. (Hope the link works)

Those would be the two that stand out most for me. They changed my "outlook" on the game completely. Still have both songs amongst my on my hard drive.

Solas wanted to make a short comment about the song, but couldn't think of anything, so he just said "a word" and hoped you could figure out one for him. Lazy elf. ;)

Let's see...

Well, the first that comes to mind is the song at the end of Lohse's quest to get her lute back in Divinity: Original Sin 2, which I've gone on about many times on this forum.

Another would be Saints Row: The Third. While fighting in the final mission, you get a call. Killbane, the main bad guy, is at the airport, about to ditch town in his private jet. If you don't stop him now, he gets away sans justice! Then you immediately get a second call, this time from STAG leadership, a government military group that's been making life hell for half the game. They've kidnapped Shaundi, Viola, and the mayor, and they are going to blow them up along with a big city monument, framing the Saints! You can't do both, which way do you go???

The music makes the choice for you.

Death Stranding had some spots, too. Near the end, when they finally play all of BB's theme.... wow. Otherwise, it's just a nice little song.

If I read this as games with great soundtracks that I almost certainly wouldnt have played as much without..

The Last Spell.

The whole Clair Obscur Expedition 33 sound track is great, but I'll post this video to avoid any spoilers because I think everyone should at least try the game.

Remedy has some really memorable music moments across Alan Wake 1/2 and Control, but theyre kind of more audiovisual and very spoilery.

Completing the quest also changes the music that plays when game loads to be the Blind Guardian version from then on too... you may have forgotten that detail.
I used quest to farm easy gold since gold wasn't shared account wide (items were though), so having some things to sell right away was always handy. Do it in easy, collect the 5 instruments as rewards, sell... restart game in normal

The quest itself is actually marked on the map as its near a portal - see below: (might need to open image in imgur to see the bottom, as it doesn't let you scroll on image if you just click it here)

happen to have map lying around...
fun game, wasted too many years playing it

wish they remake it... its on Steam but I never played it there. People who own the rights to Titan Quest also own the franchise now. I can live in hope.
lots of Easter eggs in that game.

Fantastic! Love #1 and #3. #2, the power of music is evident. Makes me think of situations in games where a certain "type" of music starts playing and you start looking around for where who or what is coming from even though there is nothing. Just the music giving you a bit of a rush. Brilliant and love it.

First time in my life hearing this. WOW! Listened to it about 4 times. Definitely something I would consider playing now that I have heard this. Will look at system requirements and add it to my "To get" list if possible.

@Pifanjr Love that Portal "Still Alive song, brilliantly made!:)

One couple of my favorites:

It's just so serene in a game that is a lot about shooting stuff.

The title intro from Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is one of the best I have seen. It just put me right into the spirit of the game, and the dive at the end is just the cherry on the top, contrasting the hero music and letting you hear those lovely splash effects and water dripping. It's just beautifully made:)

Minimum specs need an Intel 8700K or Ryzen 1600X and a GTX 1060, which is pretty achievable in 2025. But yes unfortunately older Intel integrated wont do it in this case, sorry to say.

I know it's PC gamer, but I gotta go with a non PC game..... I'm sorry.

There's great mentions on here *huge old school Blind Guardian fan*, but for me the way music made me look at a game differently or a game made me look at music differently.... god that would be Shadow Of The Colossus.

I know not everyone has played it, but the music and game weave together in a magical way that they make each other better together. It's an odd and amazing game, with beautifully powerful music. It's a true masterpiece that really can't be compared to other games, even the others in the series.

It's one of those games people should truly look at if they go into making games, not because it's what type of game they should make, but how does the game and music go together to make an experience. Not just one you'll remember, but one you'll be drawn into. Especially when the Colossus are engaged.

Even after all these years, even with it's clunky controls and odd, semi empty world.... it's just a game I still think about and wish was on pc and still put on tunes from it every now and then.

i'm sure there are many many examples. Perhaps Doom 2 community wads have been a stand out example as some of the maps and megawads just miles better with a kick ass soundtrack. Evilternity, ancient aliens, auger;zenith, the adventures of square are just a few examples. But generally stuff from tristan clark, stewboy or james paddock are winners and i listen to their stuff even outside of play.

Maybe dark souls 3 give it that epic sorrowness to proceedings.

undertale's soundtrack was pretty amazing. made something simple truly unique and special and enhanced the story greatly imo.

I think a recent stand out was legend of heroes: trail of cold steel. The prologue wasn't the best starts and the generic Anime plot didn't didn't help things. but the intro soundtrack/intro kind of made me think, "ok, this might not be so bad. i could probably play this". This was when i was coming down from a downward funk when my shin megami tensei 4 save game file got corrupted.

Persona series. Especially persona 4 which got me into the groove.

if i can think of any more i'll mention them...
