If my work didn't ban games from our laptops I'd definitely have a little frog guy hanging out in the corner of my screen. Or a little village on my taskbar.
I had a little anime girl at one time, but she distracted me, and THEN I bought one of those games that only fills the bottom 2 inches of your screen, and you are only supposed to check in every now-and-then. I obsessed over it and sat here and played it until it was over the same day I bought it.

With monolith gone the nemesis system is now locked and buried probably never to be seen again. Kinda like when namco patented the ability to play sub games whilst games were getting installed.

Well, the Namco patent expired around 2014 or 2015 I believe. Sadly the nemesis system won't expire until 2036. I think companies should prod WB to license it out if they don't incorporate into any more of their own games.

There is a very good chance that's exactly what would happen to me too.

PC Gamer switched from Disqus to a different system for their article comments? Like literally 17 hours ago. What?

There was an article about a week ago about it:

Not gone. The older articles still have Disqus attached (but they'll all be locked soon enough). Articles in the last 18 hours all have the new system.
Ugh, looks like they just converted everything. I went over to see if I could get my final upvotes count and went back 72 hours and gave up.

Looks like maybe all the old comments are gone, too. There were actually a couple of hilarious threads I would have liked to have read one more time.

My greatest comment of all time, per upvotes, and the ensuing comedy was here:

It was something about us putting people on the moon, and only 50 years later we have a computer that can draw penises. I marveled at the awe inspiring pace of human advancement. Of course, the exact phrasing was what really made it funny, and I can't remember it now.

There is one that adds pets to your taskbar and move around the bottom of your screen but im liking this one atm, see if i can increase my curiosity for this type of..game?

I made good progress on this because I forgot and left it on for a day or two. After that I keep forgetting to start it up and haven't "played" it in well over a week.

Old comments are still there, for now at least, you just have to go a day or so to older articles and you can always check you comments and upvote on Disqus itself because your Disqus profile should still be intact.

Yup, this is coming...

I do wonder if voice work is just one of those jobs that will end up going away. We've seen this kind of thing happen in the past with other jobs and voice AI seems pretty good these days.

This is ridiculous that the publisher would ask this, but it certainly seems like the writing is on the wall. The future of art is bespoke, artisanal "made by actual humans" kind of stuff.

You know, as an individual, I would want to say yes if I added up all the money I made in my life til then and how much more I'd make if I were to do voice acting until I die, and charge that as a one time fee to do the work.

However, even then I probably still wouldn't do it because I'd essentially be working to put other voice actors out of work and that just doesn't sit right.

EA is being, apparently, stupid about it. If you train AI on an actor's voice, you should still pay them their normal fees and royalties whenever you use the voice.

The truth is, however, that you can randomly generate voices, so eventually voice actors will be a thing of the past.

There have been a lot of people making fun of this movie, but what they are mostly missing is that this movie, as the article also states, is being made for children. As a children's movie, I think it looks like it could be pretty good.

Where is it free? You mean on EA's subscription service?
So far they only giving it to anyone silly enough to have a Playstation Plus membership. So its "free" in that you don't pay for game itself, but still need to pay for the subscription and buy a PS5

but its a start

It's also on EA's pass like all their other games, which may or may not make it free on Game Pass or on EA's plan on Steam. They have different plan levels, so I'm not sure about Game Pass and Steam.

Game pass just has a limited time trial.
its also free with Geforce Now if you sign up for 6 months. (this has existed since game was released though)
Obviously its on the EA service as well.
I can't tell regarding Steam, its not showing any free choices.

So its free if you pay someone for a subscription...

Not exactly free then. Hardly an incentive to get either.

Wonder how long it'll stay there? I haven't looked at any coverage, but based on the three or for Monster Hunter games I've played, they're generally identical, if iterative. I always really wanted to like them and in theory, I should, but I don't think I like the general structure of the games, that is, hanging out in the hub and then going to specific zones to hunt the creatures. There's not a ton of exploration, just gathering materials to make better stuff, on and on.

In other news that PCG hasn't reported yet, EA apparently released the source code for the original two Command & Conquer games, as well as Renegade, Generals and Zero hour.

I do believe there's already a fan remake of Renegade, but would love to see an open source port of the Generals series.

They reported it. It's just impossible to find because they have some weird algorithm that determines what you see. Just put the articles in chronological order!
