Initially skeptical, now completely hooked. Dune: Awakening captures the brutal desert survival experience with engaging combat, base building, and a unique MMO twist. Water scarcity, sandstorms, and sandworms make Arrakis unforgiving. Though not perfect, this might be the Dune game we've all been waiting for. #DuneAwakening #SurvivalGame

Just sank 26 hours into Arrakis. The start is BRUTAL—you'll die of thirst constantly. Honestly, I almost quit multiple times.

But stick with it. The moment you craft your first stillsuit and get a sandbike is a total game-changer, and it feels so earned. The "slow blade penetrates the shield" combat is an awesome mechanic, and the survival loop of gathering, crafting, and building your base is surprisingly addictive. Going from a trash shelter to a real base while dodging sandworms is peak gaming.

Despite some jank and glitches, this game has its hooks in me.

For House Atreides! Any other "Dune Buddies" out there?

Did you miss the part of the tutorial where they tell you you can drink from certain plants? Or did you miss the fact that these plants are marked on your map if you've been near them? Or did you miss the part where sunstroke quickly depletes your hydration?

It should be almost impossible to die from thirst unless you're just not paying attention.

You can't always drink from the plants. During the heat of the day, you can't get water from them, but you are correct that it isn't all that hard to avoid death by thirst, even though your need for water goes up as you wear heavier gear and you have to make longer and longer trips for things.

Pretty early, maybe immediately, you get the tool to drain blood from the people you kill. I haven't actually done it, but I'm pretty sure you can drink the blood. But blood is the main source of water in the early game. You put it in a machine that draws the water out. But then you start forging iron and steel, and your water needs go through the roof. Guido was out killing people non-stop to keep our steel production going and not keeping up. The last thing we did was build a condenser that pulls in atmospheric water. We'll see how that does.

I didn't actually know that there are times you can't get water from the plants. I guess that makes sense if it's supposed to be dew.

You can indeed drink blood. It gives you a debuff that decreases your max health for a while, but that debuff doesn't stack so you can at least drink to full if you have enough blood on you.

I stopped playing just after my machines started to consume water as well. I think at that point you do indeed need to start building machines that passively generate water to keep up with the demand.
