I had a corgi when I was young but I don't remember her... she died when I was 13 I think. Also went halves in a Rottweiler once, he was a cool dog. Friend kept him at his house as we really didn't have a safe backyard.

Neither ran away from memory.

there is a nature reserve nearby, they have emus... and there is also a zoo as well. It has one but its expensive to get into. I don't remember ever seeing any but I really don't go out of the city often.

they out there

I also have one of those little pumps; I doubt it's any good like the one that guy in the video has
Actually, now that I recall, those old telescopic designs weren't as good as the newer ones because their lever to attach it to the valve often wasn't secure enough, the narrow shaft was too small to be sturdy, and they were bulkier while pumping less air volume.

The common mini pump design now has fat shafts that fit a hose that screws onto the valve, and is easier on the valve as it flexes. They can push more air volume per stroke, are scads more durable, and are more efficient weight and size wise with this design than bigger pumps.

My parents owned a miniature poodle called Rambo some decades ago, and one day he slipped past the front door and disappeared in the neighbourhood. One week later, a dog barked at the front door, and my parents opened the door and the poodle stood there!

The dog smelled of cookie dough and old home, and my parents soon found out that an old neighbour not many houses down the road had taken in the dog and fed him what was most likely not the food you should give a dog.
It's amazing how many common foods dogs can't eat. Makes you wonder how they survived as pets for 15,000 years before the invention of pet food.

I face planted bathroom floor 5 months ago today. Mum doesn't want any repeats.

I still don't know how I managed it. I know I fainted but not sure how I fell or where from. I remember coming to afterwards and realising my foot really hated me. That was the start of the period where my feet decide when I sleep... first few days I just stayed awake until I couldn't any more. Pain killers were only way I got any.

Feet were fine for most of today and only start to act up at night. they actually only ache if I am in bed. Guess I haven't gone for a walk all week. Sleep pattern broken as usual. Feet won't stop unless I do more exercises... they tricked me today as like I said, they were fine all day.
Soon I stop talking about it 🙂

Quit being a wimp and exercise! I'll buy a new walking sim and practice.

walking really doesn't achieve what the exercises are for, they are to get more movement into my toes and for most part my toes don't do much apart from help me balance, while I walk - i could be wrong, not cutting them off to find out.

Toes are what ache at night. Most nights.

I have some hand/wrist exercises to do to help with my (what I assume is) carpel tunnel.

But I usually forget, especially when the pain goes away. Which would disappoint my sister, who often assigns her patients exercises, which they don't do, which is frustrating for her. Our Mom is one of those patients.

Well, I'm a big dumb idiot and money burns a hole in my pocket.

I'd been thinking about another handheld (I have...I dunno, a dozen at this point?) recently and it showed-up on AliExpress with a bunch of coupons for a pretty good price ($117 shipped), so I bought it.

Received it on Friday evening and have not really had any time with it yet (We had TWO kids birthday parties to attend yesterday), but I kind of dislike it already. It's entirely too big, though it can still fit in my pocket and be relatively portable, but it's very heavy as well and doesn't really do anything my other ones don't do.

Trying to return it looks to be a hassle, given it's via a Chinese company and all told, I didn't spend that much money on it, so I guess I may as well keep it for now and try to sell it later if I don't acclimate. I just feel a little silly.

Ignoring the money I have to pay for a monitor that I ordered 2 months ago is hard to do. I already bought one thing with some of it and have almost paid that off now, while I wait for monitor. Already thought of other things I could buy instead, but none are really essential.

looks up Handhelds Anonymous support group for people who need to be told its okay, owning 100 handhelds isn't really excessive, its just no one else understands.

its okay, my dad collected helmets of Armed forces around the world, not many of those are much use to us now. Handhelds might have a value going forward.

These won't be worth anything, unfortunately. They're just Chinese emulation handhelds, built with leftover cellphone parts.

At least I generally sell stuff on if I'm not using it, so at least it doesn't hang around.

Incidentally, I have a few armed forces helmets I inhereted. I've been meaning to hang them up on the wall or something, but I'm lazy and haven't gotten around to it.

We have a box of them unless mum managed to pass them onto someone else in family. No, its still in spare room under a blanket

Dad collected memorabilia of WW2 so house full of stuff with no real home for a lot of it, Not sure what we do with all his books... been something we have had to fix for 10 years now. Think a lot of them are in the garage in boxes. We never really had enough room for them all. Shame the magazine collection he had is probably ruined now.

He never catalogued it all so its hard to say what is worth anything.

My Aunt had a similar struggle with her husband, whom I inhereted those helmets from. He had a storage unit full of WW2 and other military history books, as well as random items. My Aunt was really hoping I'd take a lot of it, but I only grabbed a small handful of stuff to take home with me, because I'm just not a collector like that. And the books are something I'll never read; much as I like history and military history, most texts seem to be pretty dry explorations of tactics, division composition, etc. I'm much more fascinated by first hand accounts and human stories.

That said, my recommendation to her was to try and donate a lot of that stuff to a local military history collection/museum. There's quite a few around here in the States that I figured might be interested in them, but I'm unsure if she actually got around to that or not. So maybe look around and see if there's anywhere close to you that might be interested.

we have a little bit of competition here

A lot of the books he has were probably printed for them.

They have tanks and Aircraft... we just have books about them. Mum set limits
Brother took mum there recently, seems its 4 times larger than it used to be.
One hall had a bomber inside it. Seems its not being displayed right now

Dad used to take us there a lot. But it became boring and I grew up.
should go again, need to book tickets to get in, but its free. Tickets just to control numbers.
Seems the AI is wrong, no tickets needed now

They don't really hurt tonight but I haven't really moved them a lot

5 months ago I couldn't think to put weight on the boot, even a light thing hurt. Had to sleep with it poking out of bed. It takes time to adjust to having a boot on all the time. Took about a month I think,
4 months ago it was probably the same.
Once I could sleep without the boot on, I needed a pillow or something to shield foot from any weight on it
As time passed I could sleep with the foot under the quilt but as soon as I added a blanket as well, suddenly everything was too heavy again
Much of this is not really my foot and was more building up leg muscles again after not using them for about 2 months.

Its only really been in the last few weeks or so that the weight of bedding no longer bothers it as much.

I only thought of that as I am sitting here under everything and its moments like this that I wonder if I didn't just dream it all... until I move foot and can tell I haven't taken an Osteo tablet for over 8 hours. Doesn't hurt but I can feel my foot. I have been ruled by the foot for 5 months now, it still sets when I go to sleep but less every day.

Not much happens in my life so this was something different. I enjoyed it while it lasted. Yes, I am strange 🙂

Finally put my new PIAA windshield wipers on today. Each blade comes with a silicone impregnated cloth to prep the windshield after cleaning it with glass cleaner, which helps the blades glide smoothly and water to bead up. Most silicone wiper blades are made just with silicone, but these are a rubber/silicone mix which PIAA says is more streak free and durable. I checked to see if people were having any issues with silicone only wipers, and many report streaking and/or durability problems. The car had RainX ones on it, and I kind of like their connectors better, as they have a definite click putting them on. The PIAAs fit, it's just that you have to really push down on them and pull the locking tabs out to make sure they're in position.

I also had bought a 4 pack of rubber "top hat" grommets to secure the rubber/plastic cosmetic strips that sit at the lower corners of my windshield. They are intended to cover up an area where the windshield molding overlaps. This wouldn't have even been necessary had the auto glass shop that I had replace my windshield not pulled them off like disposable bandaids instead of using a proper plastic pry tool to nudge them out. It left the upper tips of them permanently deformed sticking out like a sore thumb, and the driver side one is so loose it's now hard to get the whole upper half of the 6 or so inch strip to lay down. I was livid when the guy at the auto glass shop said, "they're just cosmetic".

There's a 10mm diameter short post molded into the underside of the top half of the strip. I figured I could take one of these grommets, which are 9mm ID, slip the non flange end of it over the post after roughing it up and spraying it with extra hold hair spray (a trick MTBers have used for decades to secure grips on handlebars), then tuck the flange of the grommets under the edge of the windshield and the body edge of the car. It's not a 100% ideal solution, but it won't be visible and the silicone grommet should dampen vibration well. I'm still not too miffed at the auto glass store, as the installation included a free 3 mo membership at the biggest tunnel car wash biz in our state, that have at least 28 locations.

That nearby tunnel wash has been an eye opener, especially since I don't have tenant parking yet and the street in front of our building has huge leaf trees that aphids voraciously devour the leaves of and poop sap-like "honeydew" all over our cars. It gets so bad it's hard to even see out your windshield if parked there for a couple days in warm weather. I also learned you definitely want to clean it off BEFORE rolling down any windows, as tiny grit can get stuck in it and scratch your windows when you roll them up and down. So I poke along the 30 blocks on the nearby avenue the tunnel wash is on to wash the car before I go anywhere that time of year. I think there's only about 2 tenants ahead of me on the list for our 24 stall lot, and the day they notify me there's an opening can't come soon enough! Just my luck I'll get a spot that's under a big tree.
