hydrotherapy was fun, only lasted 30 minutes, didn't feel so bad.
Feet didn't want to stand on tippy toes but I could do most of what they asked me to do.

it was only later when i tried to sleep my feet wouldn't get comfy. MY non broken foot seems worse.
Tried 3 times so far, it might work eventually.
Been a while since this happened. About a month... must have overdid it today. Easy to do when I didn't have any weight on foot.

I managed to walk outside pool as well, mainly as I had to, to get out. That didn't hurt at time. Made me wonder how soon before i can stop wearing boot. think i have a few more therapy sessions after the pool ones finish. So a few more weeks.

I've never done hydrotherapy, but one of my friend's has. I'd love to do the swim with dolphins therapy. They say dolphins can actually sense pain in your body. There's stories of them rubbing people's pain spots with their bodies and relieving it. Maybe they use their sonar, who knows, or maybe it's all bunk. I just love dolphins, so I think it would be cool just to swim with them.

Knocked on my butt today. Myself and my two kids went and got our COVID/Flu shots yesterday finally.

COVID shot always knocks me on my butt for a day afterwards and I actually got away pretty easy this time, as I wasn't totally wiped and feeling like I had the flu, but towards the afternoon here I started getting really fatigued and now I'm just in pain all over, so pretty much those flu-like symptoms I always get.

What's sort of funny is that my almost 6 year old took the shots like a champ. While the 8 year old fought and I ended-up having to pin him down while the nurse held his legs and jabbed him.

Anyway, in spite of my feeling ill, I managed to get some shopping done, as well as finish up some Commanders I'd been working on for my February tournament. I'm especially well pleased with how the Commander for the Armored Division's patch came out.

Not many dolphins in an indoor pool. But on the same coin, Sydney had lots of shark attacks in recent weeks but luckily they too can't get into indoor pools.

Had to use the "stay awake until I can't" method of sleeping last night, foot reverted to how it felt a month before, i should have maybe put boot on as it didn't like touching anything - the inner layer of the boot suspends the foot so it doesn't touch much

Giving it a break now until Tuesday which is next Hydro session. They wanted me to tell them if foot hurt today... it just feels a little stiff

COVID and flu at the same time? Yow. The COVID shot doesn't knock me on my butt (given my lifestyle, I'm not sure I would even notice that), it flattens me for a day. No way am I taking that along with a flu shot!

I generally get my COVID and Flu shots at the same time anymore. Yeah it's a bit of an extra hit, but manageable, and you only need schedule it once. That said, not sure if I was still working I'd want to do it that way.

That means (I think) you had almost no resistance left from the last shot. I may regret it, but I'm not getting any Covid shots for awhile. I almost never leave the house, and I'm over lying in bed with a high fever all night from getting the shot.

DoorDash has been disabled by snow. I may have to go to the store myself later.

My wife passed out when she got her first COVID shot, so we had to sit and wait. I rolled right through them, but i grew up with a lot of allergy problems that required shots a lot.

In other non-gaming news, wifes doing fine after surgery, been spending all week serving her hand and foot and then her bday is the 7th, followed by valentines on the 14th, shes lucky to have so much time in a row where i have to be her maid lol.

Reminds me of a horrible 6th grade experience I had. It was my first yr in a new school after moving out into the suburb area of where I grew up. The school was administering tuberculosis shots. They had us all lined up in the hallway. As I got closer to the room they were giving the shots in, the antiseptic smell started getting to me. I started feeling light headed about the time I got near the door, and just apparently passed out cold and hit the floor.

I wasn't at all worried about whether I'd hurt myself falling, or whether I would have side effects from the shot. I just didn't want everyone in my new school to think I was a wimp. It took a little while, but once they saw I was OK at sports, nobody poked any fun. In fact in Dodgeball, I'd often be the last man standing on my team.

The plan tomorrow is to go to the shops... yes, I know, exciting... but I haven't been there since before 19th November last year and it is just somewhere to go. I wonder if anyone in the shop will ask where I been... boot might be a clue.

I was going to go this weekend but it was too hot yesterday and it was 10c cooler today and I just enjoyed the change without thinking of going anywhere. Cooler again tonight, its so nice to not be sweaty all day.

Good thing internet shopping exists or I wouldn't have bought anything in that time.

Need to stop using the knee scooter, should be walking more but putting boot on each time takes too long. Some of the straps on the boot are starting to fall off too.

Need to be walking better in two weeks as the place we hired the chairs we have in bathroom (to sit in for showers, and a raised toilet frame to make it easier to get down too) need to be returned soon. I am not sure I am ready to stand in the shower yet. See how I am in a few weeks.

Who knows? Even the first time I got the shot I had a severe reaction and I'd not had COVID at that point. In fact, when my household did get it, even with my little kids, I was the only one who never showed symptoms or tested positive!

But yeah, losing basically an entire day is the reason I put it off for so long, but my reasons built up to finally get me to the doctor's office. Namely, I need it for my tournament--how they intend to check vaccination status, I do not know--and with my friend in recovery from his heart surgery, I don't want to get him sick. Haven't seen him since before the operation, because I just don't want to kill the bastard

A few weeks ago, I went to do a print in my resin 3d printer (the one for models) and discovered the screen was busted for some reason. I was aware of a company selling screen replacements that are also upgrades, so I went that route for $50, rather than buying a whole new printer. I finally put the screen in on Friday and gave it a test only to have absolutely nothing happen.

Thinking it over, I looked closely at the ribbon cable for the screen, which turned out to be hooked-up backwards. The crappy instructions told me to put the screen in upside down, so it never would have worked. I took the thing apart again today and flipped the screen and gave it a test and I could see the screen finally producing "images", So now I've got resin in the vat and I'm printing a little test plate that should take an hour. Hopefully it works this time, because the other alternative is to spend $40 on a model I need and later get a new printer.

Guido is in Los Angeles. I have some tips for him, but my wife would kill me...if you aren't familiar, the people of a certain gender there are otherworldly...interesting to look at. (I'm trying not to be seen as sexist by someone who is just scanning through posts quickly. This is complicated by the fact that I don't understand what is and what isn't sexist. I'm kind of under the impression that everything is sexist.). They're all hoping to be the next Hollywood superstar...

Well, unfortunately the spin bike I bought after 10 mo of use, despite always feeling sturdy with no flex, and nothing feeling loose, started developing a loud click with every push of the right crank arm. I pulled off both crank arm caps and tightened their fastening nuts, as well as the 4 bolts of the crank pulley on the right side. I tightened the 4 bolts holding the leg tubes onto the frame, and the outer nuts where the flywheel mounts. The pedals felt tight and smooth spinning, but I installed a pair of flats I've yet to ride on. I also pulled the drive train cowling off and checked for anything stuck in the belt. I also pulled the entire seat and post assembly out to make sure the noise was not from there. Still I heard the noise, which while hand cranking and listening closer seems to come from the crank spindle.

So I continued the same chat where I left off with the Amazon vendor for this product 10 mo ago as she offered this bike for free after seeing I'd returned their friction pad model. I'd already bought the mag resistance model though. She first responded saying thanks for the detailed explanation, and agreed it was likely the crank spindle/bearing assembly. After some trouble getting the link she sent to provide a video of the problem via email, which wouldn't open, she's says, OK I got it. So I assumed after she'd also said they have that part and it's considered user serviceable, shed send it, but she again later asks me for another video. She wanted me to try tightening all the fasteners and then push the crank by hand with no resistance to see if the noise still persisted! I then told her I'd already explained that I tightened all the fasteners, and that not many people use a spin bike with no resistance!

I started wondering since all of their models of bikes now show as currently unavailable on Amazon, if she's caught in the middle of the company deciding whether to try to adjust prices higher due to tariffs, or fold their tents. I've yet to hear back from her, but now I feel dumb for not accepting her offer to get the mag bike free. She was offering it free in exchange for editing my review on the friction pad bike to a more favorable one. I thought 3 out of 5 stars was accurate given that the pad shot out the front of it under resistance pedaling after only 2 weeks of use. Like a dummy though I just told her I'd already sent the pad one back and ordered and received the mag one, and that offering the difference between the two in price would be adequate (CURSE my angelic side!).

Today I was so upset I didn't bother with my upper body strength or spin bike workouts. The bike still works and feels OK, but that loud click just reminds me it's really cheap crap! I also don't want to disturb the neighbor below me. It may have been a good thing I avoided the workouts though, because it prompted me to do a lot of research on good quality spin bikes. I looked at more Amazon bikes like Yosuda and Jeroto, which have WAY more positive reviews than the one I bought, but also some pretty bad ones, talking about and showing some consistently nasty problems with them.

So I started looking for CPO spin bikes, and stumbled on a place called Studio Cycles, which is affiliated with Total Body Experts. What these guys do is work with a lot of fitness places like LA Fitness, etc, and buy their used spin bike fleets, and refurbish them. They even built their own press tool to customize the bottom bracket (crank) shell on the Spinner NXT bikes, to make them way longer lasting than stock. Studio Cycles also works directly with Schwinn as consultants on spin bike design. Jim Wimmer, owner of Studio Cycles, also wrote an extensive several part guide on how to DIY a first gen Spinner NXT to equal their upgraded latter model.

Now I know these bikes cost quite a bit more, over $1000 for CPO ones, but they also have high end parts that cost a lot to replace should you find one used on the cheap. The Spinner NXT is also plagued with knockoffs made in India, so it makes it even harder to buy used willy nilly. In fact I had just prior contacted a person selling a Spinner NXT on craigslist, but noticed the manu's model decal had been taken off. I then wondered if Jim and his YT video guides on what to look for when buying one used saved me. So I spoke with a guy named Jeremy at TBE, and he worked out a pretty good deal for me on a Schwinn AC Performance Plus (saved me over $100 with free shipping).

The Schwinn AC Performance Plus is a commercial grade bike made to handle abuse at fitness clubs and fits a wide range of riders. It's designed for long wear and low maintenance with formed aluminum frame, mag resistance, robust ISIS bottom bracket, a lobed drive belt made of carbon/PU, an industry leading handlebar with wide, flat hand rests, combination flat/click-in pedals, and the leg tubes have PU pads on the top for getting on and off the bike if you're wearing cleated shoes. I had a feeling the Fizik MTB shoes I bought would still get some use when I decided to go with flat shoes and pedals on my next mt bike.

Here she is, the new bike in my mini fleet!

Two months away from the local supermarket and they go and change all the shelves around and replace the floor surface. About time on the second, shop has been there since the 1970's - it is the only remaining original shop there. Apart from the hotel anyway. they probably about same age.

Apart from that it was rather boring. I didn't see anyone I knew, so no one commented on boot. It was mostly hidden in a tracksuit leg anyway.

Walk speed increasing and having mostly flat surfaces helped. I should go for a walk later as max temp today is 24c, 18c lower than what it was on Saturday. Its so nice :)

We just found out in my neighborhood that the Amazon Fresh grocery store is closing down Feb 1st. They waited until just a day ago to email me and let me know! One tenant in our apt building said it's the only place he was getting groceries. It's just a few blocks away, so rather convenient. Also was convenient for dropping off returns of products bought on Amazon.

I have however heard a rumor that WinCo may put a store in a little ways up the same avenue from there though. A pic of that building (formerly Sam's Club), was seen with a WinCo sign on it as a sort of registering or something. WinCo hasn't verified it yet, but I made a store location request on their site, also mentioning Amazon Fresh is closing (though I'm sure they know).

What I like about WinCo is they are a big box grocery store with great prices, but they don't make you buy huge quantities of things like produce like Sam's Club and Costco do. They're more like WalMart, but better, and employee owned. If it happens, I hope it happens soon. Otherwise I'll have to bus it a few mi up the road every time I need to top off produce I'm low on.
